Launcher stuck on initializing

Yesterday i tried to enter swtor, but i kept getting stuck at Initializing, then getting "This application has encountered an unspecified error. Please try this patch again" multiple times. So i uninstalled the program completely, then reinstalled it. However i keep getting the same error messages when i try to fully install it again.

 

I've tried doing (WIN+R) -> services.msc ->BitLocker Drive Encryption Service ->set startup type to Automatic from Manual which helped. However, the downloader stopped going at 98.39%. So i exited out of it and tried to reopen, and i got "This application has encountered an unspecified error. Please try this patch again"again.

 

Tried again this morning, and same error message.

 

What do i need to do?

I just crashed in the middle of a Fp after playing for hours, and now i can't get past the launcher either. It gets stuck initializing, or patch error 208. then if i get 2 second screen, and click play, it just crashes out.

If you're using the BitRaider streaming client (sounds like you are as that's the default option) there are a few pages you'll want to bookmark.

 

This page on the EA Answer site is a good starting place for issues to do with the unhelpful messages that the client gives. Basically, you'll want to start with the easy stuff first, try a restart, check antivirus/firewall settings. Then move on to a forced repair of the client. There is a link on the below page that will take you to some instructions on how to do a repair, but I've included a second link below that includes pictures.

Sometimes there is an issue with the BitRaider service. This link provides some steps you can try to give it a little kick.

The BitRaider streaming client is rubbish. I wish they'd give an option to go directly to the non-streaming client, which does not suffer many of the problems that the streaming client does. Since you uninstalled now would be a good time to switch to the non-streaming client. You can try some of the above steps to try to resolve your issue, but if you want to just go non-streaming then this link will tell you how to do that. It does involve editing some files so be sure to make backups. Note that switching from steaming to non-streaming involves a complete redownload of the game.
