Hey everyone!

With 6.1.1 coming to PTS, Operatives and Scoundrels will be getting a new Set Bonus. Below you can find the "Superiority" Set Bonus. This Set Bonus will be the guaranteed Operative/Scoundrel Set Bonus from the Master Mode difficulty of The Nature of Progress Operation. (Note: This Set Bonus will also have a small chance to be gotten via the random boxes from either Kai Zykken or the Spoils of War Vendor.)

Operative:

(2) +2% Mastery

(4) Infiltrate maxes out your Tactical Advantages when activated

(6) Tactical Superiority now consumes all Tactical Advantages and scales it’s crit chance buff with amount consumed, up to 20%

Scoundrel:

(2) +2% Mastery

(4) Smuggle maxes out your Upper Hand when activated

(6) Stack the Deck now consumes all Upper Hand and scales it’s crit chance buff with amount consumed, up to 20%

Let us know your thoughts! This Set Bonus can be obtained from a vendor on Odessen for testing. The team is specifically looking for feedback on how effective this Set Bonus is on the Master Mode version of The Nature of Progress Operation. It is our intention that this Set Bonus isn't required to beat this difficulty, but it offers extra help with certain mechanics players may experience.

Initial impression (untested and solely based on the description):

Is this set bonus for 16-24 man groups? Because that's where I see the most benefit to 20% crit raid buff over the standard 10%, while losing all of the benefits of the Tactician set. If the intent is to create a set bonus for use in large raid groups, then please consider improving the 4-piece set. In many circumstances, scoundrels get 1 free UH just for popping out of stealth.

The whole concept is great, but hardly a valid choice over Tactician as it is, since you're trading full uptime buffs for a 10sec window every 5 min. And Smuggle? Even spending the GDC on it sounds terrible.

If you wanna stick to this setup and make the set attractive i would suggest swapping Smuggle to Surrender on the +4 bonus. Surrender is naturally part of your rotation and making it an offensive cooldown would be extra useful.

As for the +6 bonus, while +10% sounds powerful its still on par with another raid buffs, so the tradeoff of your own dps with Tactician doesnt worth the 10sec window imo. If you could add something like : *Every stack of Upper Hand spent increase the duration of Stack The Deck by 2-3 secs, up to 16-20 secs*, probably it would make it a more reasonable tradeoff.

The most useless set for both pvp and pve...smuggle?it has huge cd and used only once. Just a dumb set bonus

With the current Tactician nerf hammer hitting hard, why not focus on a heal tailored set that actually amplifies HoT potential and support the original proactive healing style of Ops? Like:

(2) 3% Alacrity

(4) Kolto Cloud spread the current stacks of Slow-release Medpack on the target to all allies within 8m. Allies with both Kolto Cloud and Slow-release Medpack HoTs receive 10% additional healing for 12 secs.

(6) Healing a target over 100% grants Kolto Injection, stacking up to 5 times. If the target drops from 50% HP, the stacks are consumed, each healing for (Mastery * 0.5). The stacks cannot last longer then 15 secs. Additionally, your direct heals have a 50% chance to leave a smaller HoT on the target, healing for (Mastery * 0.1) every 1 sec. Effect lasts for 8 secs.

The uptime on the purposed set is so tiny, I fail to see its worth imo.

Also, can we please acknowledge Volatile strike? It makes three abilities auto crit in a row, with a 15-16ish second cooldown. It's very strong and needs something reworked with it.

Haven't tested the set yet, but making a set that only does something once every 5 mins is a bad idea. It'll juice the team's opener, but after that, you're left with dead weight for the rest of the encounter. Not to mention Smuggle can only be used out of combat. So not only do you have to wait for the long cooldown, but you'd have to blow your combat stealth in order to trigger the 4 piece. Definitely not worth it.

Smuggle is basically only used (frequently) in Ranked PvP, though this would be even more useless as you can’t use group raid buffs in rPvP.

I get they were trying to make an ability less used more usable, but that isn’t working here.

I think BioWare should scrap this idea and replace it with something else buffing/making use of an ability that isn’t frequently used like: Quick Shot, Shank Shot, Flurry, Thermal Grenade, etc.
