Deco: Concert Stage - Collision Issue

The new Nightlife event decoration, Concert Stage, doesn't always keep personnel on top.

You can see this bug at the casino on Nar Shaddaa, where the musician is often standing knee-deep in the deco.

(Really magnificent deco, BTW!)

I suspect it is by design. The drums are actually the "Air Drums" emote with the addition of a small stool.

So either they intended that to make a sound, or they forgot it's an emote that makes a sound.

I'm glad the other instruments don't make noise, so you can play along with the Concert Stage deco.

Thanks for the post Xina_LA! We've located the erroneous musician and we will work on correcting this for an upcoming release. I'll post again when I have more information to share!

Also we've noticed that the music is too quiet. If you use it outdoors in an area such as the Nar Shaddaa balcony, you can't hear the music unless you're standing on the stage. It's about 25% of the volume of a jukebox.

While you're tinkering with the stage, please ask them to give the volume a boost, as well?

Here's another interesting collision note --

Usually you hear the nearest jukebox. As you move around a room, which one you hear changes.

Jukeboxes always overpower the stage. Even if you're standing on the stage, even if you turn the stage off and on again, the stage never gets "sound focus". You don't hear it at all. It doesn't seem to obey the same rules as the jukeboxes.

I got a stage and set it up. I put band players, musical instruments, dancers on top and found that after you leave the SH and come back, some of them move up. Some items that did not was the Nalargon, Prehistoric Drumset, Cantina Speaker and the new, Kitonak Musician. They all remained below the stage cut in half.

Once in a while the Personnel will be on top, sometimes they aren't. For me, they're on top about 1 time in 10. I haven't figured out any rhyme or reason to it.

Here's what I see: http://roll3d6.com/swtor/concertstage-exterior.jpg

Also, unfortunately, here's what I see from inside: http://roll3d6.com/swtor/concertstage-interior.jpg

I hate how the windows have so much glare, I can't see the balcony.

The game has had an ongoing issue since strongholds first came out of not consistently letting decorations stack on top of one another. I've experimented with multiple decorations and setups. Most decorations will NEVER stack if you put them in the same space; their pixels merge together, that's it. Personnel decorations are an exception in that they will stack, but only intermittently. Every time you load into a stronghold, the dice get rolled on whether the decoration's positioning will be "correct" or not.

I see this every day in my Nar Shaddaa stronghold, where I have one room set up as a dance hall complete with multiple Gambler's Party Floors. I currently have 3 different Personnel decorations positioned "on top" of said floors. Some days when I go to look they're all standing on top of the floor, some days all their feet are sunk into the floor, and some days 1 or 2 of them are on top of the floor while the others are inside it. It seems to be completely random.

In short, until we get a Z-axis slider in the Decorations interface, the stage decoration will be nigh useless. The fact you can only put it on a Centerpiece hook (a hook that is in short supply in several strongholds as well as ALL guild ships) when it easily fits on a Large hook is just more crap icing on the dirt cake.

Sigh. I'm having results similar to what AscendingSky talked about. I tried moving some things around and now I'm getting different results than before. Now a dancer and the Kloo player are sinking into the floor, along with the other musical instruments. However, the new Kitonak Musician is staying on top. Go figure? This is after I left and came back to the stronghold.

So regardless, the stage is useless. Waste of resources creating it and putting it out there only to be unuseable. I had such high hopes for this. Unless they redesign the stage by flattening it or give us an Z-axis, no one can really use it.

P.S. And I agree the volume is set way to low to hear. But it doesn't really matter since we can't use anyway.

Final Edit (than I'm done with this).

I left AGAIN and came back and end up with different results. Now the singer has dropped along with others but the Kloo Player is back on top. /facepalm

About the volume--is it as low as the ambient machines? Those things are stupidly low, and I know a lot of people who have never been able to hear some of them, even with all volume sliders maxed. Wondering if it uses the same sound channels as those.

Well, it's been a while now and something I've noticed is everytime I visit my SH that has this deco, all the Personal Deco's I've placed on it are correctly positioned on the stage. None are sinking through. Was there a secret hidden fix to this?

Unfortunately, the other deco's like Drum Set, speakers, or nalargon still sink into the stage.

I don't believe anything has been done about the sound being so low either.

Maybe a future patch?

I keep saying this but it is hard to think otherwise when we hit the 2nd anniversary of these issues: there are literally 2 devs left working on this game. 2 years later after this thread and the volume is still as low, NPCs still knee deep below the stage, hell I can't even access half of the secondary hooks of the decos because they are under its floor. Nothing was adressed. Edited by demotivator

If they would just give us a Z-axis slider this would not be a problem. We could manually raise the decos up to the proper height. It would also mean that we could put performers on the Mek-Sha stage, too.

I would love a Z-axis adjuster, but also more than +/- 20 on the X / Y slider.

I'd literally pay money for this upgrade.

Hear that, Devs? Want me to buy a ton of CC for an upgrade? Here's the best way!

:D

That would already be a good start to fix a few issues.
