Loadsamonie
How are the two DPS trees fundamentally different? If they're both close-range DPS, then how do they differ exactly? I would think one is close range and one is medium-long range, because having two close-range DPS specs to choose from on the same class seems redundant. AdjeYo
Tactics is better at burst damage, whereas Plasmatech is better at sustained dps.

Many of the tactics skill tree was beyond 10m. But since VG/PT are tanks, EA shoved us into close range because reasons. Because before the two classes were listed as "ranged" tanks, but somehow we were too OP so the range got junked.

The only rotational ability that got its ranged nerfed was Hight Impcat Bolt, which is just as much a part of Plasmatech as it is of Tactics. VG/PT dps have always been a mostly 10m ranged dps class with some melee attacks and a couple of 30m ranged attacks. Sure you had a couple of 30m ranged attacks in Full Auto and Sticky Grenade, but they were sparsely used, only when you really had no other option. TACeMossie
Both are pretty close range, with most of the rotation being 10m abilities, though both of them using their version of Stockstrike (4m ability) on cooldown (every 9 seconds). As for the difference between them? Tactics is a burst spec, which uses a priority list for the rotation. Plasmatech is an AoE Sustained spec, which uses a set rotation, and while its not as bursty as Tactics is, it does AoE as part of its rotation naturally and is about 10% stronger on average
