SS average DPS

Hi all,

According to all the information I can find both on this forum and elsewhere on the internet I seem to be doing the right things with my build on rotation on my SS slinger, but one site has me raisng a concerned eyebrow;

https://torcommunity.com/guides/classes/smuggler/gunslinger/sharpshooter

There's two things I'm trying to make sense of;

1) According to this spec I should be doing 7,475 +/- 329 DPS on average at my gear level (tier 1 full set at 230). Does this sound about right? It seems high to me. I've been using StarParse and looking at combat logs from an EC run last night (SM, 8 man) when we were attacking the tanks I was averaging 4825. That's more than a slight discrepancy! On the other hand the ratings section of the StarParse website suggests that my stats are good.

2) Tor community suggest a high level of alacrity augments... I'm running with crit. I haven't seen this suggested anywhere else. Is anyone else running an SS alacrity spec and getting these high average DPS figures...? Dirty Fighting I could understand...

I've noticed other clear discrepancies on the Tor Community site (the utilities and build given for Sharp Shooter are actually Jedi Sentinel specs) which make me question the validity of this info. I can't find figures like this anywhere else though.

All assistance appreciated - thanks in advance!

I'd like some input on the OP's question to? I've recently come back to swtor after a long break and em looking to start playing my sharpshooter gunslinger again but cant find an up to date info on utilities and I also have the same problem with the Tor community site showing Jedi Sent info in stead of the sharpshooter. I myself only want pve info.

One thing worth mentioning regarding the op is that fight dps =/= parsing dps. Parsing is attacking a static training dummy. In fights, your dps is often either lower due to mechanics or possibly higher than predicted due to aoe attacks. By using starparse in the raid tab, you can see your rating compared to other players of the same class (99% is the best, 0% is really bad). See what your rating is, and based off that you can see how you are doing in a way that relates to the fight.

Regarding your second question, for sharpshooter you want your gear to be like this: 8205 Endurance | 6536 Mastery (1xC) | 3694 Power | 1765 Critical (7xE, 1xC) | 1486 Alacrity (2xE, 11xA) | 743 Accuracy (1xE, 3xA, Stim). This is the most optimal build, so it may take some work to get there. (A = augment/ear/implant, E = enhancement, C = crystal)

For the second post, your rotation is pretty much identical to 4.0. This guide may help: http://dulfy.net/2015/11/27/swtor-4-0-marksmanship-sniper-pve-guide-by-thrax/

For utilities, this is what I use generally in pve, although it can vary by fights. http://dulfy.net/2014/10/13/swtor-disciplines-calculator-swtor_miner/?link=dGEBAAFGAQEAGgAAAAAAAAAA

I understand that the attack rotation hasent changed much for sharpshooter/marksmanship but the utilities has they added the legendary tab and changed some of the skill around for the other 3 tiers what I've been trying to find is a 5.0 utilities update for pve for sharpshooter/marksman so linking the dulfy 4.0 build isn't as helpful.

is this a good utility allocation https://tor.community/fGr9ps I'm doing mostly story pve and group flash points when I play

Yeah, that's a pretty good utility set for story content. It generally doesn't matter a whole lot for anything story. I thought I linked my utilities above, but it looks like the link didn't work, so here they are if you are interested. https://tor.community/qiFcQy
