Let me get this straight...

So many forum posts I'm confused to what is actually happening. So let me get this straight.

1. Gear wise there really is no change coming? Just additional layers which translate into more grinding?

2. No new content until Dec 2017? That means no new story content.. nothing until almost a year from now?

3. Companions: I assume any "class story" companion that hasn't appeared isn't coming back. Ok fine (not really fine. Not happy about that.. but ok). But what about the current companions? Right now, the interaction is minimal at best. Not even close to what the class stories had. So no new scenes or options with our current RI or companions? In other words, my ship will still be empty?

Look, I'm mostly a solo player. I play this game for story, lore, pvp and yes I do pay attention to gear. Because I do belong to a guild, and now and then I do join them on ops (the easy ones). I"ve been a sub off and on since launch. Yes, I'm a Founder. I've played (and replayed) all the class stories. and like I said, lore and story are important to me.

So I have nothing to look forward too until December 2017?

I read that in multiple threads in this forum. Why I'm asking.

There is a live stream on Twitch next Thursday to set up what's next. No timeline given yet that I'm aware of.

And well, 5.1 is on Tuesday and that's got new content, ok... maybe not what you are after... but it is content :/

Ok good. Frankly, ops aren't my biggest concern. Story/companion is.

Well they said they were going to make a group content based focus for this year ( be that all year or first part of it ... tune in to the stream to find out ) so I wouldn't count on there being new story until late this year if we get another "expansion" ( though group content can have story of course ).

Also they all but admitted that's it for the missing companions ... the usual "maybe" ******** but the only way we'll see returning companions now is with more solo story and that's not the focus this year.

Where? From what I saw that video, just goes over what we already have. Adding uprising isn't new content.

They stated they aren't doing anymore story till next expac. There answer about companions is more of their silences and vagueness. They would like to return them but they don't knows when. So any time is on the table.

Dude.. you need to read more objectively then. Many of the "no new content" claims are by players that only consider brand new OPs to = new content.

Ah ok....*WHEW* that's a relief.

So good to hear that these "no new content" claims are false! That means we're getting new places to explore, companions that can be customized and/or have customization options, new flashpoints, new pvp maps, new events that don't require me to play content I've already played more times than I can count, new planets (the kind that aren't just one-time-visit single player corridors only), new GSF maps, new strongholds, new gear and vehicles that aren't recycled and/or cartel market exclusive, new daily areas, and everything else that people have been asking for over the last 2+ years but hasn't been mentioned once by a dev...right?

Oh we're not getting any of that either? Well...I guess it's a good thing that the new chapters have so much replayability, and the new gearing system is so alt-friendly. ;)

The DEV team is also the same team that said they will deliver something better then cross server for pvp. What did they bring? One wz map that has cross faction. That alone did nothing to help the servers that were on death row. Now anyone left on them sit hours for a wz to pop from what I understand. I left Jung Ma cause of the queue problem.

Thanks for the info. Somehow I doubt the dev's idea of MMO content means a new op. I'd be surprised. But for me especially, if there's nothing new story or companion wise, then I'm out. MEA is almost here anyway. ;) Edited by cagthehack

Really, let's see what MMO players should expect from an expansion, shall we (and no, this isn't from WoW).

Here is one for comparison:

  • Level cap increase to 60 (from 50 to accommodate a lot of new content)
  • Three new character classes
  • Three new zones that are each three times the size of the original in game zones (i.e, equivalent to nine zones) that are fully explorable (you know, real zones not corriders used once for a story mission)
  • A new playable race
  • Flying mounts
  • 819 new quests (including 3 unique quests for EACH class)
  • Story continuation from level 50 (not an entirely new story like SWTOR)
  • 18 new 4-man dungeons
  • 6 new 8-man raids (level 60)
  • 3 new 24-man raids (level 60)
  • Three new abilities for all classes
  • Three new PvP modes
  • Mini-games including a casino/carnival games, mount racing and a few others.

All told it takes a few months to play through the content of that expansion. Just FYI, the base game prior to the expansion had 1,268 quests, 29 dungeons, 6 8-man raids (level 50), 3 24-man raids (level 50) and nine zones (which are 1/3 the size of the expansion zones). In other words, the expansion was equivalent in content to almost 75% of the original game. In fact, people are still playing through the content since the expansion launched and another expansion, similar in scope and size, is launching this fall.

What did we get with SWTOR 5.0 "expansion" for new content:

  • 9 story chapters
  • 5 uprisings

All told, it is about 6-8 hours to play through the content and 90% of it is really not repeatable. People were pretty much done with this the first week it launched.

Finally, the price for the comparison above? $20. The price for a BW expansion is at least a month's sub so $15... look how much more you get for your money with the other.

It is pathetic how little content BW has given for wanting people to subscribe over the last two years. Frankly, they are taking players to the cleaners with this game compared to most MMOs on the market.

no flashpoint gear is pretty disappointing. I have a new 70 who is decked out in garbage greens and I dont know where to go to find a decent blue or even purple set. just grind boxes?

youre crazy. grinding dailies was the reason I quit WoW.

^ This, times infinity. Excellent post clearly quantifying the frustrations of many players who PVP or raid, not the solo gamers who should return to thier Xbox. What a shame EA/Bioware won't even read this post, let alone take it to heart and act on it.

Also, any of the many quests you did on the way to getting to 70? The Shadow of Revan thread gives a pretty decent set I seem to remember, Oricon does too. I suspect there are others too. Makeb?

All of which are garbage for a new lvl70 toon, as the poster pointed out he/she was a new lvl70. Was this a serious thought, or just a lame troll attempt??

If 70 then there are plenty of places for gear... literally anything you play will reward you with gear through cxp.

And well, plenty of people seem to be wearing sub 70 gear... in ops and wz... you know, when you get bolstered.

So tell me... Who exactly is trolling????
