Fleet ship cantinas not allowing for companion conversations.

I'm sure you already know this, since you've been playing SWTOR for quite a while. But just in case, and for the benefit of anyone reading this that might not know:

Some conversations require you to be on your ship. The icon that shows above your companion portrait in those cases is a little ship icon. Cantinas don't work for those.

If the conversation icon above your companion portrait is not a little ship, but just the regular icon, and you cannot talk in Fleet Cantinas, that's a definite glitch.

I cannot initiate companion conversations in the cantina on the fleet ships. They are cantinas and are rest areas, yet companion conversations won't work.
Some cantinas are "too small" for your companion to feel they are sufficiently "private" for a conversation. If you are talking about cantina areas on, say, the Gav Daragon or the Telos, not the one at the center of Carrick Station, this may be the problem. Likewise, you cannot have any conversations with your companions in the Drunkard's Vote Cantina on Coruscant (under the Senate Plaza) as it's also "too small" to be sufficiently "private" for your companions to talk to you.

As an alternative, you can talk to your companions in your Stronghold, if you have one. Also, even if the icon on your companion portrait just indicates they want to talk, you still can go to your ship and talk to them there.

And sometimes, yes, the "conversation" icon on the companion portrait will include a little ship, which means your companion will only talk to you while aboard your ship. When that happens, no other place will do, no matter how "private" it may be.
