I'm going to give it a try but I really hate BitRaider being on here even temporary. I hope they fix the retail manifest by tomorrow. It's been 5 hours since the patch was complete and there's no indication they are even looking at the info provided about the localhost in the manifest. Surely they will read it soon or see it for themselves. As obvious as it is, being literally the last lines of the long log files, it should not have been 5 hours.

 

yeah if they actually paid any attention to their community at all this would've been a quick 5 minute fix, but they don't... they can't even give us the respect of an update after almost 6 hours. the patch went "live" at 11:15 EST and it's now 5:15... is there any reply on their twitter to the mounds of tweets about the issue? no. is there anything in the dev tracker? nope. has there been any interaction in this almost 60 page thread other than the initial "give us your logs" post? nope...

3. Run FixLauncher as administrator

4. Press Windows + R and type cmd hit enter

5. Type i.) ipconfig /flushdns

ii.) ipconfig /release

iii.) ipconfig /renew

6. Go to swtor web download the game downloader

7. Run it and install it to your SWTOR Folder e.g (C:\Program Files\Star Wars - The Old Republic\Star Wars - The Old Republic)

8. Run launcher as administrator

I Was Able To Log In, Quit And Logged In Again! ...

How many options could there really be for changing 127.0.01 to the correct address? This is not a difficult problem to fix. Someone didn't change settings between testing and live; there's no need to act as though it's anything more than that.

You should be able to save the host file now. If you want to relinquish control once this is over, repeat the above process, unchecking Full Control.

 

You might have to open a dosprompt and type ipconfig /flushdns after step 5 and after you removed the entry.

Started loading the second time. Note: I quit the initial patch and waited long enough that I got the ABORT: Pointer is NULL message. Then I tried again and it is installing now.

 

UPDATE: Had to resubmit launcher notes again because it stopped installing at 99% and gave me the 308 code again *sigh*

The reason that works is because the downloader switches you over to bitraider. All of your other steps are extraneous.

Well all of us obviously have internet connection to swtor. We all logged onto the website (and probably got an email type password aswell if no login dodad ... I got one). Therefor, (and I checked my firewall to make sure swtor was "allowed") if the ap cannot connect to the patch download server .. there is something wrong with it. .... or their local network or something. Maybe it just got overloaded.

 

This is the first time I have had a problem with swtor .. so I think I am just gonna wait a while longer. Tho like one poster (at least) before me said, you get multiple instances of the launcher running and it wont start again till you stop them .. Task Mgr.

 

Sheesh, and I was playing 4 min before shutdown this morning ...... ahhhhhhhh

The reason that works is because the downloader switches you over to bitraider. All of your other steps are extraneous.

 

I know that but, many use bitraider those who use are glad that their issue was fixed. No need to go on me.

Only current way I could fix my download was to turn bitraider on. No other steps, nothing. Once bitraider was active and I relaunched the game.. patch started up immediately. This is going to cost me so much time later to get rid of that horrible thing once again. -.-

I wouldn't bank on 127.0.0.1 address being incorrect. remember the game downloads the patch then applies it, so 127.0.0.1 is probably accurate, it's reading from its own file location after download.

I had the same problem - here check the site under chapter II "launcher cannot patch itself" - there is an exe file that will help.

Hotfix it, seriously...

 

Bioware just needs a little time - Please be patient it's only been 5 1/2 hrs so far.... They are working towards a solutions - here is hoping they find a fix before next months billing cycle begins... lol
