An unanswered OT/EU question

Theoretically, at least in a number of EU books I've read, after the fall of the Jedi, the GE under Palpatine still used certain technology to screen children under its domain <for midichorians> in order for the Emperor to try to ensure that nobody would rise up against him. As a dictatorship, he had control over the many planets that were "represented" in the Imperial Senate. And to defy Imperial orders would most likely lead to death.

Now - Luke avoided being "tested" because - obviously - he was raised on Tatooine - a Hutt- controlled backwater planet.

But - what of Alderaan? <before it was blown up, obviously>. When Leia was being raised there, it had become an Imperial-controlled planet .... although she was still a "princess", the fact remains, it was part of the Empire, as were the rest of the Core Worlds. <i.e. Han Solo - from Corellia - also Core world - had originally trained in the Imperial Academy before freeing Chewbacca from slavery, etc., and Coruscant became Imperial Center>. Why wasn't she tested?

You can be supreme chancellor all you want but there are hundreds of worlds each with billions of inhabitants and most of them not so happy with Palpatins new management. Medical staff faking those tests are more likely to happen then them sending toddlers to their death. Edited by nimmerstil

Not to mention Leia was the adopted daughter of a high-ranking Senator and part of a powerful aristocracy of a human-dominated core world in the Human-dominated Empire. I mean they'd be afforded so many privileges it'd be shocking if they did manage to run those tests on her successfully.

Heck she has memories of growing up and playing as Bail met with powerful Imperial officials. She occasionally is recognized by old-school Imperial leaders as Bail's little girl. To think her family would be under the same scrutiny as everyone else would be weird.

If anyone is going to be able to forge the results of a screening like that, it'd be the leader of one of the most prosperous planets in the Empire. Bail knew about Leia's real parentage, so even if he wasn't certain she was Force-sensitive, he'd probably arrange to have any sort of mandatory screening 'fixed', just in case.

Wealth and power have their perks, in any civilization / government.
