Protips™:

1) A and D should strafe. If you use them to turn, you're doing it wrong. Up your mouse sensitivity/DPI and/or turn up your camera rotation speed.

2) BIND ALL THE KEYS. Have an MMO mouse? Cool, bind 1-12 on the shift, ctrl and alt modifiers as well. Don't have one? Here's the keys i have bound; 1 2 3 4 Q E R F G V C X Z S; All with shift, ctrl and alt modifiers for them.

2B) I personally have a mouse (Walmart $10 Onn) with two buttons on the side. THESE CAN ALSO BE BOUND 4 TIMES, ALONG WITH WHEEL CLICK. Which they are for me.

2C)So the total number of reasonable combat binds for each combo comes to; (MMO=48)+(Q-S=40)=88, (Onnbasic=12)+(1-S=56)=68, Just 1-S=56

S bind reasoning! "move backwards" has a slower movement rate then "move forwards". By being able to quickly 180° (+or- a few °) your camera you make up for the difference in movement speed. In addition, this will help increase your awareness in combat (once you get used to it anyways).

If you simply cannot master the rebinding of S, don't worry too much about it. You end up with 84, 64 or 52 binds instead, which isn't that big a deal.

I prefer using E to move forward, S to strafe left, and F to strafe right. Thus my index finger rests on the the F key, which I can feel because of the indentation in that key and I can use my fingers to reach more keys more easily.

I don't use a move back key either, instead I've bound D to the area push back ability if the class has one.

I've tried that myself, but my smallish hands had a hard time with it.

I've tried mice with many buttons on the side - gets quite overwhelming and confusing when you're trying to configure 12ish or so.

I have a mouse I still use that is probably 8 years old. Logitech (love the brand for mice/keyboards) with just two buttons on the side. I always map the two buttons, along with wheel up, wheel down, and wheel click (always interrupt for wheel click).

I also keybind V - V+Shift - E - E+Shift - f - F+Shift and use Shift+G for mount

Start my main Hotbar with ` as well, so it goes `,1,2,3..-

Usually play with a Logitech G105 (to have 6 G buttons to access on the left) - I also have a G110 that has 12, but that was a bit overwhelming for me to have that many options to keybind.

There are some nice tips and suggestions here.

I play using a 5 button Logitech mouse too. I have always liked their mice and keyboards. I map the side buttons and wheel button but I also use my mouse for all movement. It's an old habit picked up from playing EverQuest back in 1999. I just can not play any game using a keyboard for movement. It feels clunky to me.

I have a mouse with 12 buttons on the side, I use those and together with shift I can bind 24 different things to do

It works for me.

All the bindings! lol -

I still like moving with WASD though - mainly just W and S (and mouse-turn)

or just toss auto-run on and see how well i can fight while moving

I play on a laptop, so I use a Venom-X wireless joystick and a Redragon Perdition MMO mouse. I definitely recommend the Venom for playing FPS's on consoles... it was the first one that worked with PS4. The Perdition mouse is very nicely ergonomically designed and had lots of customization.

It's a somewhat complex setup but gives you alot of versatility for key bindings.

I was using a Razer Naga 2014 up until last week, when my 3yo cut the cord to it  The Redragon Perdition is actually what I was planning on replacing it with :D

And speaking of complex setups; http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=851664 #ShamelessSelfPromotion

I like the way the side buttons are angled differently on the Perdition, it helps a n00b like me to easily find the one i'm looking for. Plus the customizable LED colors are rad.

Well, it seems that "The Master" has spoken. :)

To new players - take this guys post as a suggestion, but keep in mind that there's no "wrong" way to do things, just "other" ways.

Do what feels good to you.
