It appears that pure tanks aren't holding up well in warzones, while everyone complains about these pseudo-tanks. So what exactly goes into making one of those? From the viewpoint of a vanguard, what is better?: 1. DPS gear, Shield Specialist discipline, Ion cell 2. DPS gear, Shield Specialist discipline, high energy cell 3. DPS gear, Tactics discipline, Ion cell 4. DPS gear, Tactics discipline, high energy cell 5. clearsighted Posted October 30, 2015 Share Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Pure tanks are fine, and have always been more than fine in warzones. All do surprisingly good damage. It simply takes a bit more effort to gear them effectively. What you want, ideally, is the tank armorings, and high endurance DPS mods and enhancements. Get shield/absorption on your earpiece,implants and shield generator. Use the DPS relics. Augment for endurance. Then you should be fine in any warzone, regular or tanked. Provided you know how to guard swap. All that other stuff you suggested like using ion cell in tactics, or energy cell in shield, is just crap. It's all about gearing. Only juggs can skank well (using soresu in vigilance/vengeance) and that's more because it abuses the matchmaker, and less because it works well. Corran Posted November 4, 2015 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Thanks, I thought the idea of mis-matching a cell and discipline seemed odd because you give up a lot of procs, but I wasn't sure if there was some special combination that I couldn't see would work. if you look at the tank trees, guards/jugs have fewer passives that give benefits while being in tank form that are as game changing as the passives bonuses shadows/assassins and vg/pt get while being in their tank stances. that's not to say nothing is stopping you from being shield spec in dps gear. you'd have some seriously nasty aoe. but tactics is just lulz right now in pve and pvp.
