  1. You aren't missing anything. Lethality is the aoe spec. I use it mainly for heroic starforge weeklies since you are forced to fight a lot of trash. Concealment is not that hot for multi target. it's also fun to put up big numbers in pvp if the enemy is dumb enough to clump a lot otherwise concealment is both higher burst, higher sustained if you are properly managing acid lash and not just spamming lacerate like a monkey, and higher survivability
  2. If you can do WASD Q E Z C easy, then get a 7 button mouse. nothing fancy. My logitech has two button near mouse one which are supposed to be used to increase/decrease DPI, three on the thumb side and the scroll wheel rocks left and right for two more. 7 buttons. so there is 1-7. I also bind Q and E and that's my bar 1 bar 2 is shift+ 1-7. bard 3 is ctrl+1-7 and bar 4 is alt+1-7 easy 30+ keybinds without having to move my left arm or take fingers off WASD.
  3. parsley leaderboards are not effective dps. you beating on a non moving target and dealing with no mechanics. the melee effective dps parses are actually quite a bit lower.
  4. it used to be relatively easy to level as a healer. but when disciplines came out and so many classes lost base class abilities it neutered ALL THREE of the healers damage wise.
  5. the three healers don't heal the same. only one of them can adequately deal with burst damage. one of the healers must act proactively, therefore that healer is pretty much always keeping whomever they are hiring topped off. so yes, it is annoying for 66% of the available healers.
  6. changing marauders and snipers won't fix the problem. You can't make people play tanks and healers if they aren't fun to play, and if there is no real "need" for them. there are some fundamental game designs at work here that prevent more people playing the tank and healing specs 1) healer and tank dps is atrocious in those specs. level up as a healer spec and you have almost no offensive abilities. while respec'ng on the fly isn't hard or expensive with cartel coins, not having a dual spec option hurts this. 2) healing companions are very very strong. they need to be or the pure dps classes would suffer trying to level, but this leads to.. 3) easy soloing of master mode flashpoints by a few classes 4) pugging vet modes as a tank is an exercise in frustration now that none of the tanks have any reliable self healing. 3 dps and you as a tank spec in hammer station and the dps are all gogogogogo so you can't even use your rest ability to heal up when you get thrashed. plus, you aren't really needed. neither are healers although a 3 dps 1 healer comp goes further and faster. and lastly 5) unless you are raiding, or playing a class that can't solo mm red reaper there is actually no need for tanks or healers for advancement. you can get all the gear you need except the raid set by chaining hammer station vet. LOTRO made this same mistake years ago by making the game too accessible. do you want to know what happened just this last year when they made it hard again? they lost more players than returned. the simple fact is that today - at least in the west - casual players vastly outnumber the more classic, traditional mmorpg player and those casual players are the ones dropping cash in the shops. As we continue to have severe labor shortages and overworked laborers in the west, the amount of time available to game will also continue to plummet. there is a pretty direct correlation between the great recession and start of the economic recovery in the US and when the race for world first raid completion in world of Warcraft became dominated by Europeans. Anyway just like with a faction imbalance on a server, you can't make people play something they don't like or want unless there is some fantastic reward at the end of the rainbow. as it stands, only a couple of specs really need their raid set.
  7. ESO is a dumpsterfire where the dlc dungeons are impossible for casual players unless they are carried by the try hard 3983987389 actions per second animation cancellers who push with their supidly high dps. the game becomes more inaccessible with every expansion to the average player who can play well, but not play at that 1% level.
  8. this is poor design. in 2016, this kind of design is no longer tolerated especially by those with little time but lots of money to drop in your cash shops. pve rewards need to be increased to match pvp. random warzones give me 760+ for 15 minutes of work. there is no pve activity that will reward that much in the same amount of time. you are doing it WRONG. but because you don't listen to the people who pay you, you will nerf pvp instead of increasing pve rewards. I mean OH GOD we can't have people reaching weekly cap and hitting 300 within 4 weeks in a system that is character only. even though we just pushed an event to get peope to roll up 16 alts to 65 they couldnt POSSIBLY have another character to do that on. no. of course not.
  9. it's not better for casual players, because you can't even buy the old level 65 gear anymore. between level 60 and 70 there is no available gear for casual pve players outside of pvp beyond story rewards and crafted. clearing an operation is not exactly a badge of honor. even at launch raiding was more buggy than hard here and it hasn't been the focus of this game for a couple years now. you sound jaded, and clearly don't understand that there is a faction of the playerbase that is here entirely due to kotor and the EU books and are not looking to be cutting edge youtubers or twitch streamers or what not.
  10. this rng system would have been ok if there was some sort of backup plan to counter bad luck. like every crate gets you some sort of new crystal currency guaranteed, and after enough bad luck you have enough cystals to buy a single piece from a new vendor. makes more sense to me and is a lot more fair to everyone involved. time still = reward.
  11. yet the bug to hatred/serenity is advantage assassin. fix both or fix none.
  12. this is really only a problem if you are using a melee companion. swap to a ranged one. also use your heroic moment at the start if you hve dps or survivabiity issues.
  13. solo'd all of the heroic star fortresses this weekend on a 208 shadow, with 194 relics. tank spec, level 15 torian. using a ranged healing companion tends to keep them out of the bad pbaoe's more often. if you are 216 and not able to complete it with even higher companions you may be ignoring mechanics. i have previously solo'd them all on a 208 tank spec'd vanguard, even voss without issue. any tank spec with a few 208's and a level 10 companion should have no problem, but non stealthers may take up to an hour per to do them. edit: tank spec, full dps gear. only because you need a tank to play infiltration and i don't care for the playstyle of serenity. edit again: no buffs were used, character is fresh no alliances are rank 10.
  14. if this was december 2011 and doing so allowed you to hit level 50 on day one? yes however it's 2016 and bypassing all of that to speed to the end has kind of been a ..feature?...for the last two years.
  15. So i resubbed last tuesday. been playing find windowed fullscreen 1080p resolution. even played this morning. I went and did other things not on the computer. came back and the game keeps trying to load at 800x600. forced a repair. nothing. deleted the client setting ini and that fixed it, HOWEVER only in full screen and the monitor resoultion when i tab out is set to 1280x1024. Trying to play the game in windowed fullscreen returns to same initial issue - game wont load and sets everything to 800x600 getting very frustrated here. I have deleted files and forced it to repair. I have deleted that damned setting file several times. the fact it is just suddenly doing this on a machine that hasnt been touched or even RESTARTED from the last time it worked and it has worked since tuesday is just stupid as all hell.
  16. when assassins/shadows could heal with their channeled ability, they were the closest to the blood dk when you wren't counting the companion. with a healing companion - all tanks are blood dk's. my tank spec'd shadow in full dps gear does 2.8-3.1k dps single target average in all 208 gear. that's respectable. it's also easy to screw up, much like a blood dk.
  17. if leveling concealment, you will want your companion in tank stance so you can...whatever red side calls back blast. this may mean having to stop and heal every now and then, whereas playing the other spec with healing companion is just all gogogo and has more aoe.
  18. even though streams of this game and games like destiny and others are mostly of pvp play, these games were and have always been marketed and pushed as PVE first, pvp second. PVE'ers are more likely to spend money in the cash shops or sub and stay long term, whereas historically people who only pvp tend to hop from game to game frequently even if it's back and forth to the same game.
  19. point out to me the mmorpg with balanced pvp? any game you list, someone else will be able to point out something similiar to the OP. mmorpg pvp has never been balanced. even the much revered daoc had many, MANY issues. if you pvp and ONLY pvp, play a game where pvp is that main focus - like an fps game. or a moba. i'm not insulting you when i say that. i gave up on mmorpg pvp 10 years ago, and have been playing MUD's and MMORPGs for 23 years. When I started pvp was a (wo)man's game. The games were just as equipment driven as they are now, but when i killed you i could loot EVERYTHING and leave you naked. THAT is real pvp.
  20. all ranged classes can decimate if allowed to freecast. this is where coordinated group play comes in. if you are solo queue with randoms you can't be everywhere, doing everything. someone is gonna freecast, and it's gonna be someone that can wreck you.
  21. everything a trooper could do, a merc did better due to better resource management inherent to faster heat dissipation vs. cell cost and cell regen. I mained vanguard, commando, merc, sage, scoundrel at launch. I was unemployed at the time
  22. the difference was actually large and contributed to a substantial dps difference between nearly all of the mirrors. heat vs. energy cells - heat dissipated faster than energy cells recharged, making bh>trooper before animations were even considered. you mentioned project, which had a animation almost 6x longer than it's mirror operative vs. scoundrel - nearly every single scoundrel animation was up to twice as long as the operative version which meant that in a pvp situation - in a vacuum and given same gear and same skill - the operative always won. The animations for the shotgun blasts and other abilities were longer than the 1.5s GCD, but none of the operative abilities were. A keyboard turning ability clicker generally didnt notice the difference. anyone who uses keybind did and it took bioware a long time to fix. Today, there is a difference between serenity shadows and hatred assassins that is working majorly in the assassins favor. It's unclear if this is a bug.
  23. the sims show a very narrow margin between the top 10 or so. play whatever you want. the sims don't take into account the melee unfriendliness of this game or specs with more inherent mobility. I will say this - it's been my experience after two decades of MUD's and MMORPGs that if you do not enjoy what you are doing, you are not going to be very good at it.
  24. lrn2google correctly then. there have been too many launch era threads being necro'd.
  25. cortosis ore was introduced into the EU books in 1997 by timothy zahn. It hasn't seen that much use in stories as macguffins since really, not like it could have been.
