Close and personal help

I do not really understand close and personal, is it any use for a pyro dps?.

I am a pure dps pve player, and I am just need help to better understand it, I am trying to figure out if it is gong to be useful to put skill points on it or not, like that one that says, when up close is triggered it does elemental damage if the attacker is in 10ms.

If it matters I am only level 27, have no interest in raids/ops.

Close and personal is your "get points for showing up" skill. You do damage to enemies near you (and they are always near you as you technically are melee) when you take specific types of damage.

For simple heroics or questing it isn't really important as nothing you face will survive long enough to justify you having close and personal active. However, should you chose to go into ops or even flashpoints, it is a great skill to have as it literally boosts your damage by just standing there. There are some fights in this game that close and personal will be my third highest damaging moving contributing 200k + damage to a boss. I pushed no button for that damage, just speced into it.

So like I said, your "Points for showing up" skill.

Section X can't be soloed (heroic needs 4 people to click stuff).

Blackhole because I like it, rather easy.

Not finished Ilum too boring.

Makeb some times, but I never finish the story, but its only dailies, the staged weekly takes too long, too put off by what it was like when 2.0 come out.

CZ, I liked it better when it had 2 the FP.

Oricron, never finished too boring.

Rishi, I hate so much.

Yavin, gives 192 gear for comps, and lets me pick up extra crafting mats.

Most of my time is spent leveling alts, which my PT seems needs to reset skill to get rid of the up close skill point.

Hey, someone please help me understand this, because my English is probably not good enough to get it ;)

Im still not quite sure how Reflective Armor works

--------------------

Close and Personal increases the duration of Energy Shield by 3 seconds. In addition, suffering direct damage from area of effect attacks vents 2 Heat and heals the player for 2.5% of total health. This effect cannot occur more than once every 3 seconds.

--------------------

The way i see it there are two things that Close and personal does:

1 - Close and Personal increases the duration of Energy Shield by 3 seconds - this is always active;

2 - suffering direct damage from area of effect attacks vents 2 Heat and heals the player for 2.5% of total health. This effect cannot occur more than once every 3 seconds. - this is activated by aoe damage not more than once every 3 seconds

--------------------

Reflective Armor: When Close and Personal is triggered, it will also deal X elemental damage to the attacker if the attacker is within 10m.

--------------------

Now what exactly does When Close and Personal is triggered mean? Is it triggered whenever someone in a radius of 10 meters attacks me with whatever attack (because Close and personal is always active), or is it only triggered when im suffering direct damage from area of effect attacks and not more than once every 3 seconds?

Cheers :)

(EDIT: i need this for PVP)

(EDIT: i need this for PVP)

Close and Personal will be considered 'triggered' whenever you are hit by an AoE attack, and it hasn't activated in the last 3 seconds.

So, for example, when fighting a TK Sage/Lightning Sorc, every 10.5 seconds or so you'll get hit by a Chain Lightning, triggering Close and Personal. And if you are within 10m of that Sage/Sorc, then they will take damage from reflexive armor.

Here's a list of rotational AoEs:

Vanguard/Powertech

Shield Specialist/Shield Tech: Ion Storm/Firestorm

Tactics/AP: Sticky Grenade/Explosive Dart (PvP, for setting up burst)

Plasmatech/Pyrotech: Pulse Cannon/Flamethrower

Sentinel/Marauder

Watchman/Annihilation: Twin Saber Throw/Dual Saber Throw

Combat/Carnage: Twin Saber Throw/Dual Saber Throw

Guardian/Juggernaut

Defense/Immortal: Guardian Slash/Crushing Blow, Force Sweep/Smash

Vigilance/Vengeance: Vigilant Thrust/Vengeful Slam

Sage/Sorc

Telekinetics/Lightning: Telekinetic Wave/Chain Lightning

Balance/Madness: Force in Balance/Death Field

Shadow/Assassin

Kinetic Combat/Darkness: Force Breach/Discharge, Slow Time/Wither

Serenity/Hatred: Force in Balance/Death Field

Scoundrel/Operative

Ruffian/Lethality (I think): Shrap Bomb/Corrosive Grenade (I know from certain PvE fights that DoTs can trigger it, though I haven't actively tested this ability against a PT/VG)

Gunslinger/Sniper

Saboteur/Engineering: Incendiary Grenade/Plasma Probe

Dirty Fighting/Virulence: See Ruffian/Lethality

Good luck getting much out of it in PVP.

It damages an enemy if they do AOE damage to you and they are within 10m of you. With a rate limit of 3 seconds.

This is primarily used in operations where you deliberately stand in AOE next to the boss for a very large free damage boost (as long as your healers can deal with you standing in stupid).

It works in PVE because fights are long and static and when there's AOE theres a crapload of AOE otherwise it would be a waste of time.

Now in PVP for this to do a decent amount of damage your attacker needs to be within 10m and using a ton of AOE on you. Sound likely? No.

It will however get set off unreliably during PVP but nowhere near the scale of abusability that you can get in scripted PVE fights.

The healing and resource regen doesn't care about distance.
