Enough with the bomberball already.

Bioware. This is why people stopped playing GSF in the first place and why people are stopping again. The game is only 3/4 done and the balancing mechanic, infiltrators, aren't being put in. When every Imperial team has 4 bombers all with maxed out rail turrets, which never miss ever, and 3 gunships how is that starfighter?

At what point in any of the star wars movies did ships line up in a firing line in the middle of a mine field and snipe away? Jeeze.

Without capital ships in the fray, the game would devolve to too much non-starwarsy circle dancing. The gunships and bombers allow for area denial, and pay deeply with their maneuverability.

In general, if you are fighting a team of gunships and bombers, the counter is a team with less bombers and gunships and more battlescouts, and your teams gunships act to prevent enemy gunships from easily getting kills and clearing minefields, while the scouts press forward and quickly act to prevent the gunships from doing anytihng at all. But what REALLY is going on in these games is that your team is normally not enough players who know how to play, and the enemy team has enough players that do. It is lame if a guy has only a half mastered starguard against a bomberball, but it's really a problem that he is likely going to get baited by that bomberball again and again, and nublystomped each time.

There's like exactly one that is both multiplayer and a sim, and it had some non-starwarsy mechanics as well to get its blood pumping.

In Holy Trilogy, the ships are in danger from non-dogfighting targets, which needs to be true here too.
