  1. That match was lost for absolutely no reason whatsoever.. *shakes head*
  2. In the current game, absolutely. If RNG were to be removed though? Maybe its me but I'd have issues with stuff that requires no aiming to use in such an environment.
  3. This would be fine with me, so long as you could actually dodge drone and turret fire :\
  4. So I've ordered what I'm going to use as a replacement. While it hasn't been mentioned here, it is the successor to some of what was mentioned, and that mouse is the Logitech G502 Proteus Core. I'm honestly more of an FPS player, and while you made a great compelling argument Verain, the G600 isn't quite what I was looking for. Too many buttons that wouldn't get any use from me. The G520 doesn't have any acceleration or prediction on the sensor is another big selling point for me. I'll let y'all know how it works out in the end.
  5. So I'm curious as to what kind of mouse all you fine fellows out there use. My current one (Logitech MX518) is finally biting the dust and I need to replace it. I've been putting it off for over a month now as it's reliably served me for almost 10 years but the mouse wheel is shot, and the left and right mouse buttons aren't registering always. So what does everyone else out there use?
  6. Must never have played any other Star Wars space sim, eh?
  7. The main idea as far as I know from the serious competitors was finish the match was quickly as possible with a win. I could draw a map out and snag 15 medals, or finish it quick and grab ~10-12. A few extra medals wasn't worth extending a match an extra 5 minutes due to the fairly instant queue times, because I could earn more getting into another match faster. At best I'd about break even on medals sometimes, but even then, because of the points from wins and matches it was still better conquest/minute to finish as fast as possible and play as ruthlessly as possible. Addon: The win wasn't often in question regardless of what I would have chosen to fly, more often finishing faster was the primary motivating factor (ruthlessness).
  8. I've got an MX518 right now, gonna get a Logitech 400S at some point to replace it.
  9. Hey you got me back a few times too! There were a few times you popped in behind me and I thought for sure I was going to be okay because it was someone else until suddenly.. EXPLOSION. Off topic, but I totally need a new mouse, this one is dying and resulting in so many missed chances to kill someone. Nothing will make you rage more then having a shot lined up perfectly, having the weapon energy to fire, pressing your left mouse button and watching absolutely nothing happen.
  10. Those were some great by-the-skin-of-your-teeth matches You'll probably see me and my wife a little bit more going forward for awhile. August is almost over and the busy season at work is finishing up, so hopefully we'll have some extra time to play in TOR.
  11. This suddenly turned into a hilariously amusing thread.
  12. Pretty sure it means black death actually in some foreign language.
  13. Maybe you should get off your lazy *** then and I dunno, put one together?
  14. Separating them is the same thing as removing them from the game. If you think there is a large enough amount of people to support both queues, you are awfully... naive.
  15. I group with any one that wants to come along, if I've got room after guildies. A good deal of the time I'm solo and i don't even own a bomber. But you are missing the point, what exactly do you think is going to change? Because regardless of reasoning the people in premades are going to more or less end up in matches against you.
  16. Neither a threat or any thing else, just an honest assessment. If people want to play with friends and the queue for grouped doesn't pop, what do you think is going to happen? They're going to circumvent not being able to play. And they're going to be annoyed that they had to do so. I honestly don't care if you think that's being a good sportsman or not. I don't know any groups that queue (and I've been invited to most of them on TEH at some point) that prefer matches that are lopsided gankfests. And if there is room, most will take you along with them. You could be playing your first match ever and you'd still be welcome. I'd rather play skilled group vs skilled group for all my matches, so long as I actually got to play. I'd much rather there was cross server queues and the matchmaker worked well. Matches where there was never a challenge to begin with aren't any fun. You can only fly that unmastered ship that you really weren't interested in so many times before A) you throw your hands up and fly what you enjoy and B) the damn thing is mastered.
  17. Simul-queue with friends and more then likely you'll end up in the same game against the opposite faction. And since all us VOIP folks are evil, lets say it does put us in a same faction match. Lets say... 3 on one side, 1 on the other. Nothing stoppin' the one from throwing the match, or letting the other side know where you're at cuz y'know... evil VOIP right? I doubt the system realizes if a match is in progress, because it's not going to assume those people are going to requeue. End result is probably a fairly low percentage of matches being more balanced, with the majority being the same as it is now - but with the added benefit of possible longer queue times and annoyed groups.
  18. Happy I got my matchmaking question answered. But yeah, cross server queues are basically the only thing that are really going to fix things.
  19. Aw, shucks. Before I left I was actually pretty much exclusively in my Nova (probably 85%) of the matches with the other portion a Starguard. My Flashfire was left around on my bar for niche circumstances that seem to occur now even less then what they did back in the day. I've already refitted it more like my Nova and one of them is probably going to be removed off my bar when the next patch hits (probably the FF). As for gunshippin' its for a few different reasons. Mainly it forces a handicap on me in dogfighting, which is something I want/need to get rid of some of the rust. The other reasons are achievements and practice for using the thing against bombers. I've actually been back for a little bit (since that post saying I couldn't adapt *glare), but its kinda rare that I get time to play early morning. Probably going to disappear entirely if things go well at work.
  20. I actually occasionally pop in from time to time still when Saberwing convinces me to. Being rusty and my controls setup for different games I've topped the charts when I played or came in right behind Aimbot. You shouldn't assume that because we don't play any more that we couldn't adjust. I still do perfectly fine when I log in - but I don't enjoy what the meta has turned into these days.
