Gree event /legacy offhand first purchase.

Having 6x level 55s, and doing the Gree event fairly casually, I finally have enough tokens for the first offhand legacy wepon/ shield/knife shotgun etc.

- But what would be the most useful....? Any advice?

I have 55s on pub side x4 and imp side x2 - an Inquisitor and BH.

Or is it not actually worth it, - should I just buy the hilt/barrel/armouring I need and forget shuffling stuff around with legacy offhands? then spend the helix components on some fancy mount or armour?

THX for any good advice.

Ha, same problem for me here!

I would buy the tech shield for Treek, I think. But don't look at me. :) I'm also planning to buy a knife and a scattergun, because I love cunning classes, but that's personal preference.

Mostly, though, I'd keep the tokens and only buy something when I'm fully ready. The vendors are there all year long, after all.

You can't equip a knife on a Scoundrel though, can you? So essentially a legacy offhand is useless to Operatives/Scoundrels? Same for the mainhand. Am I right?

If you're using them for the purpose of moving the armoring or barrel, you only need 3. Barrels bind to the type of offhand, so you need a scattergun for any republic needs and a vibroknife for any imperial needs. Armorings that go into generators/shields/focus only slot bind as offhand and it doesn't matter. Just be sure that you use the correct shield (tech power vs force power) if you're going to equip it to a character.

Also if you don't need one of the offhands right now, you can hold onto the Helix Components since the Gree vendors are there all the time.

Well, the legacy offhand would be useless for transferring BETWEEN those two classes. But, we do have companions that use knives and shotties, so, they are handy for hand-me-downs.

The mainhand barrel though is not tied to pistol, cannon or rifle ... I think. An assassin's hilt isn't tied to double-bladed saberstaff at least (althought I haven't checked in quite some time), so, I'd be sort of shocked if a MH barrel was tied to the type of weapon. Although OH barrels (as above) most certainly are.

Keep in mind that you can get BtL weapons from other places than just the Gree event. I got a couple with Golden Certificates at the casino. There are also some available from Rep vendors (I forget which ones at the moment, but one is the Sword of the Vigilant(?))

So, if you get your BtL weapons elsewhere, you can use your Gree purchases for other things.

Edit - there's also BtL weapons - all using a 'Barrel' - available from a Bounty vendor, that you buy with completed bounty contracts.

Casino vendor doesn't sell offhand items, except blaster pistols and lightsabers, and those are the mainhand/offhand variety, not offhand-only.

For some reason, Xeno boss op dropped lots of purple tokens on SM and HM, so I somehow got about ~50 of these. Am going to buy all the legacy off-hands, just because I'm a mad collector(and nothing else to spend these tokens on: I don't like the sphere mount, and while Gree weapons look a bit like Geth weapons, I couldn't find a blaster rifle/pistol that I really liked, and though sniper's rifle looked good, I'd rather use good old HUD for my snipers).

I think off-hands aren't for transferring, actually: they're for convenience. For example: you stick those shield generators with optimized 140/156/180 mods, optionally augment them and pass them between your Treeks(knives for snipers, focuses for Sorcs/Sages, etc) though mail or soon-to-come Legacy Storage. Though with 140's, spending 18 planetary comms is probably cheaper.

Well, if your using them to transfer mods between toons, you wouldn't want an "off-hand only". The mainhand/offhand ones can take a barrel of either type and they temporarily become the same 'hand' as the barrel, but return to main/offhand after you remove it.

Of course, this all assumes you want the BtL weapons for mod transfers. If you actually want the weapons to use, then you'd have to get the specific ones. :)

Alas, you do need an off-hand only for high-level barrels, because knives(for example) are off-hands only, so if you want to take out that 30/31/34 spare barrel from Quinn's off hand and send it to your sniper, it won't fit anywhere else but in a legacy-bound knife.

I'd have to check, but I thought the barrels were bound to 'offhand' or 'mainhand', not the particular weapon. Which is to say, you should be able to put an offhand barrel on, say, a mainhand/offhand blaster rifle, send it to your alt, strip the barrel off the rifle and put it on the knife. (But I'd have to check for sure). Edited by JediQuaker

I think you might be able to do that, but not the other way around, like I wrote(my Quinn's knife barrel wouldn't fit into any of my legacy weapons, and I have tried quite a few). Ah, well, it's Tuesday and a rep change - I'll be able to use up my Gree tokens, get to Hero eventually and finally get that knife. :D
