RedPands
Recently i came back to the game and leveled my sniper from 50-55, wearing my full rakata gear. Realizing nobody has the gear anymore, is the gear obsolete even if I were to put endgame mods in it? Would it have the same armor rating as any other depending on the mods put inside? Sorry if it sounds noobish, I just don't know

Sorry if it sounds noobish, I just don't know If you put NiM-rank mods in it, it'll be the same as any other NiM gear... psandak
Tonese, Columi, and Rakata gear had the gear set bonus linked to the gear itself (don't use the Rakata gear and you lose the set bonus). BW corrected that mistake with the Campaign gear sets and beyond - the armoring item modification within the piece of gear holds the set bonus. With this change in mind Xakthul is correct. removing item modifications (armoring, mod, enhancement) from new gear and placing it into your existing will work. Note that this WILL break the set bonus unless you install set bonus armorings into the gear

For now I am just happy I can keep the rakata armor since nobody really has it anymore, thanks

MishraArtificer
That's exactly why I kept mine. That's why my Concealment Operative still has her Columi Enforcer's Jacket and Longshot. It's also why I bought the Agile Recon set and unlocked it for ALL of my Agents, present and future. I love that coat.
Kulyok
If you're willing to spend about 300k, you can move all the mods(including the armorings) into a legacy-bound set, like one of those free pilot suits, or a set from the casino. This way every one of your alts of the same class(or a companion of the same class) will be able to use it once they reach level 50. (I use Makeb mods for the same purpose, but I'd much rather use Rakata ones - these are better).
