Different OPS/flash point mechanics for potential future

Was thinking about this last night and figured I would post. The goal was to "change up" the standard roles and allow people to go out side the comfort zone of a standard class.

 

I'll start with the scenario itself and work in the changes later.

 

It starts off with the group performing an assault on a base to rescue one (or more) individuals. Once rescued, the individual must be escorted to safety (yes i know but bare with me) and the group must escape. Yes I know this is the basic premise of the entire first movie in 2 lines.

 

Now the mechanics. The opening is a standard assault much like our current tactical flashpoints and many operations, nothing fancy just mobs and probably one or two bosses. bosses would be basic tank/spank types maybe a swap mechanics here and there depending on the story trying to tell.

 

enter the "puzzle" of unlocking/finding and rescuing the "target(s)" this can be anywhere from slicing to pressure points or some other type of group mechanic tied into a boss fight (Lost Island as an example). Alternately splitting group up to perform multiple objectives in small groups

 

Once rescued the target must be escorted and protected and target can not die. This can be done as sections where need to get to a certain points to defend much like kaon. Turrets and other defensive positions are available to defend against the waves.

 

the end goal is the ship, which is where the new mechanics come in. With GSF and new larger ships, it would be possible to have an escape scene where you are defending against waves of ships via turrets that have their own "abilities and rotation" some would be shields/engines that are used to maneuver and defend, others are offensive or repair. Additionally one would also be required to fly the ship (or ships) while avoiding obstacles and large blasts from the enemy (Corrupter zero, Isotope droids laser, etc.) . The look would be similar to the ship at the start of EV.

 

If wanted to add space PVE having a final assault on a capital ship would be additional change but probably not everyones liking.

 

The point was to offer a few idea on new mechanics (escort) and the space escape where you are no longer use char abilities but rather the ships.
