SonzeK
Why can't these classes be included in both factions? smugglers can live perfectly in the empire just like they do in the republic, and due to the "new laws" of the republic for bounty hunting(when you start bounty brokers association as a republican player, the bounty hunter explains to you that it is allowed now to hunt in the republic) there is no problem for bounty hunters to live and play on the side of the republic. the main problem is the class stories that will have to be written for each side, but i think our devs would be glad to write a new class story and put their new ideas. Sorry for bad english.

I'd say that they have other priorities than making sure that class stories can work for the other faction. So in one word: no. Kathitor
B/c their design was for class parity between factions based on traditional archetypes created by the movies and surrounding lore...even if we're in a totally different time period. Essentially they are the grey characters of each faction based on Solo and Fett.
Superman_AZ
1. Unlock all races 2. Pretend your smuggler or BH is a spy 3. Play it on an RP server to maintain the story You're welcome! Edited May 16, 2014 by Superman_AZ
AscendantOps
Smugglers thrive on moving contraband from one place to another. The Sith Empire places overreaching restrictions on where one can travel and when, and what items one can traffic provided he or she has the proper clearance. More, Imperials tend to look down on the criminal element of society and very rarely opt to work with them. Think about this; if smugglers are indeed contracted by the Empire, there's still the omnipresent fear of repercussions that is effortlessly stronger than in the case of working for some other party like the Hutts or the Black Sun. The Republic on the other hand is willing to ignore whatever offenses the smugglers make in their daily endeavors so long as they further the Republic's war effort against the Empire and various other factions. In short, it's a far better deal for the majority of smugglers to be Republic-aligned than standing with the Empire.
Icebergy
The class stories do an excellent job of explaining why the Smuggler is Republic and why the BH is Empire.
Istanu
It would have been better if there was a 3rd Faction that was based on nar shadda and Hutta. bounty hunter, Smuggler and 2 others classes would need to be added, The Reps would get a SiS agent and the Imps would get a storm trooper class. Having a Faction that could travel between both factions would make for a more diverse universe and game play

VanCali
This is essentially what SWG had IIRC, a third or neutral party. Honestly, it only makes sense. In everything you have a good, bad, and greedy, er, money-oriented. Not going to happen. I don't see huge expansion coming out with sweeping improvements to things already made, it isn't profitable. But, who knows what we will get with the movies coming out over the next decade.

Sorry for bad english. It's the type of thing what would have had to have been done when the game was in development. It's not really possible at this point. They don't have the resources to devote to or do such a thing. No this faction shouln't travel between both factions, it should have its own fleet for example because if it does then everyone will play it. While a third faction with it's own fleet seems cool it wouldn't really work with the game's set up. First off things would be unbalanced. You'd have two factions with 3 classes each and then a third faction with 2 classes. Second, splitting people/players apart even further than what he have right now wouldn't be good. You would severely weaken a number of elements like Guilds, PVP, grouping, etc, basically any non solo content really by having a third faction.
