Adaliaya Posted January 29, 2014 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Hi, I've just begun with my Trooper and made her Vanguard basically because assault cannon worn by body 1 female looks IMO silly. So. Endgame. Will Vanguard DPS be stupid deal (haven't seen any around)? And is tanking difficult? Haven't had tank before, is it hard to learn? TACeMossie Posted January 30, 2014 Share Posted January 30, 2014 End game DPS is typically done by people running the hybrid which is going next tuesday, but the 2 full trees are viable for endgame (there are vanguards running both full trees that have been in Dread Fortress/Palace Hard mode) - just a lot harder to pull big numbers. As for tanking, Vanguard tanking is probably the easiest to learn. Just keep throwing Riot Gas (level 20, tank tree) on the boss and use taunt when you lose aggro, and just dump all your abilities when you can while spamming hammer shots a lot. I'd suggest leveling as a tank though, because: 1. You can get into flashpoints a lot quicker 2. Its a lot easier to learn2dps than learn2tank 3. You can keep all your DPS gear on Aric Jorgan/Elara Dorn(Obtained on Taris, Healer)/Treek (if you get her) for when you feel like DPSing Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I feel like assault specialist is the fastest to level with as you get your essential resource management right away and the high impact bolt reset for lot's of damage. I've leveled a powertech to 55 and am now leveling a vanguard, and I've got to say it's probably the most fun, but definitely the easiest class to level. It's also by far easiest tank especially at a low level. Mortar volley pulse cannon and explosive surge all come at a fairly low level while shadows and guardians have to wait until level 50 to get their heavy aggro abilities. As you're leveling don't bother with different gear sets, just respec and switch back and forth from shield or generator depending on what you're doing.
