So one does a sharp 180 degree turn going vertically, the other does a sharp 180 degree turn going horizontally. How about just taking one away, and giving these ships something more useful, like retro thrusters? You know? Not two virtually identical parts with hairs splitting the difference between the two. Just get the one you find the most asthetically pleasing.. or you have the least trouble with. If you have trouble with using them, that's a spatial awareness problem. The issue OP is trying to point out is that both turns are frankly useless right now, and I don't see TDM making either of them more appealing.
