The armor from the Cartel market is mostly just for looks. You are better off working on getting some orange gear from leveling up and just keeping the mods up to date. The first couple things I got from the CM were simply the +XP bonus items. Also if you do buy stuff off of the CM keep in mind that you can unlock it for all of your chars. I got a really big handgun from the bounty broker merchant today. I'm excited. I couldn't help wondering why they don't sell any cool melee weapons though.
