Currently F2P players, even with the weekly passes, cannot play in Ranked games. With both solo and team Ranked coming out, most (if not all) of the "good" players will probably be doing that exclusively and won't even interact with F2P players on any kind of regular basis pvp wise.

 

So its really a win win imo. Get more people trying out pvp with a handful liking it enough to sub for more competitive games. And for all the people who don't want to be more competitive or who just arent good enough for it, they (potentially) have more people of their skill level to play with as well.

I like how whether it's pve or pvp, f2p automatically equals "bad player".

 

There are plenty of subscribers that are bad players as well.

Until it has shoutcasters, regularly populated streams, organized leagues or leaderboards, or the GCD fix, "competitive" is a generous term.
