JustCallMeJax
I bought an armor set and clearly it is weaker than everything else I have. I understand how to put in mods but the defense is still 20! Does that matter? Can I increase it with mods I have not seen yet?
KuroshimaiHD
Are you talking about the armor value? If you are, the value depends on the armoring mod in the gear. The the higher the rating of the armoring the higher the armor value of the gear.
JustCallMeJax
I think the current armor im wearing is (armor lvl 34, under that it said 127 Armor) the 127 armor is what im talking about so the better mods I add the higher the armor will become? It's only the armoring mod the raises the armor, but better mods in general make better armor.

NOTACTICS
Its known as adaptive gear (Think of it as just a shell for looks) and like above has said its advantage over other moddable purple/orange gear is that actual armour rating increases as you upgrade your armouring mod (Weighting will go off the max you can wear for your class light, medium or heavy). Standard orange/purple moddable gear has a static armour value regardless of the mods you put in.(They just increase your main stats more like cunning, endurance, power etc.. each time as you upgrade the mods). So once you get a adaptive set you like the look of you can in keep it right throughout your story and just by upgrading your mods each time using commendations ideally it will never get under levelled. It takes effort in keeping it updated each time and it will be a little poor armour value wise in comparision early on to standard orange or purple moddable gear but it saves you credits in the long run in not having to buy new gear all the time as you level up and it is just as good as any other type once you start getting the better mods.
