Pazaak and Gambling

I have been patiently awaiting multiplayer Pazaak since this game was announced. Mini-games like this and swoop racing became staples of KotOR and are sorely missed in SWTOR.

Implement these things and I may actually be able to convince my RL friends who don't raid to play again. Hell, maybe subscribe.

Perhaps then it would be better for there to be no gambling on the outcome of PvP / pazaak games and simply introduce spectator mode and card games without a credit valued reward?

I wonder; would it still fall into the realms of virtual gambling (legal minefield) if instead of credits you were granted a token if you won a pazaak game. That token could be used to purchase a random card, or with ten tokens purchasing five random cards (pure example). That would separate the card game away from the currency of TOR whilst offering some incentive to play given that tokens could not be bought or sold on the GTN / vendors / CC Market.

The same could be implemented should they ever introduce some form of racing; one token is given for taking part (some sort of payment in case of unexpected injury or death, it could be classed as story wise :p) and then bigger pay outs for the top four racers in a group of say ten or twenty.

Hey gambling on here would be just as bad as the Card games in Real Life like Pokemon and Yugioh. So betting cards is still technically gambling but ppl dont make a fuss about that.

Plz explain that to me how one is worse then the the other.

Because eventually, children realize what a pointless endeavor the game is and leave.

But the adult just keeps putting money into the machine.

Which always leads me to the following question: WHY are we the ones allowed to stay up past ten?

That doesn't answer my question.

Yugioh is a game and bet cards that have a credit value

Pokemon is a game and bet cards that have credit value

PAZAAK in SWTOR - Pointless in game currency

now tell me how one is worse then the other.

I did answer your question. People don't care because children eventually go "Okay, this is dumb, I'm leaving."

Adults, however, log into these forums and accuse Bioware of cheating, accuse players of hacking, accuse Chinese credit farmers of stealing and pretty much blame everyone around them for their loss, rather than just walk away.

That's why it's worse. Because when they lose credits, we lose brain cells.

I don't hate all new ideas.

Just the ones that weren't thought out or created with the sole intention of barring any sort of disagreeing viewpoint.

So if you have a problem with people having a different opinion than yourself, I'd suggest you leave the internet altogether and just stick to talking to mirrors.

Unless you've been stalking my posts, you don't what I think. And again, what you think it "the bestest idea EVAR!" does not actually make it so.

Now, how about you "Begone, Schtako head!"

I assume from your posts that you have absolutely no idea about the legal ramifications of bringing gambling into a game?

There are strict laws in place that do actually govern gambling online - who can, for what and for how much - and it would be very very difficult for EAware to find a way in which they can introduce a gambling card game to SW:TOR without it breaking the laws of any country that their player base is in. Not to mention it is also illegal for children to gamble - how do you suggest they police this? I doubt EAware are in the position to alienate a good chunk of their player base (and you, by the content of your posts) by making this game 21+.

As to your example of card games like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh, they are not games upon which you actually gamble. Those games are meant for the sole purpose of fun. Never in my life have I been to a casino where they have offered me a chance to play Magic: The Gathering for big bucks, but they do offer the chance to play games like poker and blackjack for money.
