Level 1 Orange DROID Gear Set

Recommended Posts

Please make one. This can be an empty set with no mods, like the other seven piece sets on the CM now. It should include two each of Parts, Motor, and Core, and one Sensor. To make it work for HK-51, it should also include a droid-only vibroknife. Heck, throw in one each of a special droid-only blaster rifle, shield, and generator as well.

The trick is, you don't even need to do art assets for this set, since droid gear has no visual effect on any droid. So you can just grab any four random orange droid parts, a random rifle and three offhand items, slap a new set name, Level 1, and droid class locks on it, and POOF, free money for you. To be fair, since you don't need to do any art assets for it, the cost of the set also should be probably 1/2 or 1/3 of what the current seven-piece orange sets on the CM are.

Many people would buy this set for their HK-51, since there is no other alternative for moddable gear for him at the lowest levels (and you can't get a complete set of moddable gear for any droid until level 30 at the earliest). Meanwhile, the craftable blue droid parts up to level 30 all have tank stats, so if you are using HK-51, then you are stuck with at least one or two pieces with useless stats until you can equip the craftable level 30 green custom parts.

Uhh, why would they do this?

Cybertechs can craft all four types of empty droid shells

Core - min level 15 - http://www.torhead.com/schematic/49E8BIT/cz-99-custom-core

Sensor unit - min level 16 - http://www.torhead.com/schematic/1cmEpUB/cz-98-custom-sensor-unit

Motor - min level 24 - http://www.torhead.com/schematic/38B6I89/cz-97-custom-motor

Parts - min level 30 - http://www.torhead.com/schematic/cNUJaY6/cz-96-custom-parts

Plus several more pieces of droid equipment that have stats, but they have lower min level requirements. Plus almost all class missions that offer companion equipment rewards offer droid equipment as well.

So far, in Cybertech, I've seen modifiable green-frame droid gear come up - not orange. I think the post was more about wanting to see orange-framed versions be made.

The color of the equipment doesn't matter, only the fact that it is modifiable.

It's about getting moddable droid gear we can use from level 1, since we now have a droid companion that can be summoned at that level. It's also about being able to equip DPS gear on a DPS droid companion. The craftable blue gear is all itemized for tank companions, and there is no droid gear with DPS stats available prior to level 30, which is the earliest you can get a full and properly itemized moddable set on.

I'm also 100% certain that some moddable droid components are sold by an NPC on Coruscant, in the Old Markets area. I'd assume a similar vendor is hidden somewhere on Dromund Kaas, but I didn't ever bother searching for it.

The Specialty Goods vendor sells level 15/16 Core and Sensor. There is no vendor that sells the other moddable pieces at that level. Whether you use the green crafted ones or the orange pieces you buy from various vendors, it's one piece every 10 levels or so up to 30 (47 if you wait and get the orange Parts sold on Voss).

We can slap a level 1 adaptive armor set onto any non-droid companion as soon as we get them. The Jedi's first companion T7 and everyone's new companion HK-51 are left out in the cold. Now that we have HK and people seem to like him, there would be plenty of demand for a complete level 1 orange set that he could wear, and, as noted above, it takes no art department work at all to implement, so the effort to income ratio is even higher than the repaints and new designs that the team has been producing.

To be honest, I have wanted a droid equipment vendor for awhile now, but selling these through the CM could work I guess as well... As it is now, I rarely use my droid companions since the effort for gearing is much more convenient with the non droid companions.

Anyway, I have been using Cybertech to gear T7 and HK from time to time, but mostly just use HK-51 and his already included level 50 gear.

I don't know that suggestions need to be bumped, it's not like BioWare responds to each one (or any) to acknowledge them. So I have to assume they're reading them all (or ignoring them all if you're a pessimist).

On topic, I agree there should be a level 1 orange set of droid stuff for people who use droids. The 'wait to 15, 20, 30, etc' argument is a pretty poor one when you don't have to do that with any other companion thanks to the CM.
