Snellembiss
Good Gods, could you imagine the horrors of trying to walk around Fleet? It's bad enough with lag as it is!
MrSchmo
For the purposes of what exactly? Just to tick people off. There is a reason for no collision, and it's not cause its easy. Whole guild blocking terminals and NPCs? Sounds like a lot of fun. Not.

Vitas
Maybe in space combat, swoop / podracing or any sort of vehicular combat matches but other than that, it wouldn't work elsewhere.

SWGEvictee
Add player and vehicle collision to the game Age of Conan tried a collision system like this. It failed due to the actions of players who get a kick out of interfering with other players ability to pass through narrow paths or access travel points. I don't believe it would be any less abused here. Nice as it would be, I think we're better off without it.
Zorrion
So the Why: I read an interesting article about Heavy armor in front and light armor in back and it made sense that more diverse tactics could be created during PVP and possibly for PVE. PVE scenario. "Everyone spread out. No one stand in the fire!" Beam of fire flies out and kills the healer. Wipe, repeat. Wipe repeat. Add collision. The armored guys stand in front of the fire and block it from hitting the healers. This is just a trivial example. But it's something that could add to the diversity of the game. The reasons against collision are definitely valid.
