Andryah
I read it in the Dutch paper that Ea is going to add P2W to all their games, exisiting and new ones... It spells not a good thing for this game. This has been discussed to death in multiple threads since last summer. One as recently as a few days ago. What EA said was they are putting micro-transactions into all of their games. EA has said nothing about putting P2W into their games, and so far there is no evidence that they are/will. There is a difference. Not all microtransaction models in internet games = P2W.
TwelveofFifteen
Yes they have and it was even listed as so. The article even started with it. http://www.telegraaf.nl/digitaal/games/21339167/__Betalen_om_te_winnen_in_alle_EA-games__.html The article is labelled: PAY_TO_WIN_IN_ALL_EA-GAMES Nuff said me thinks! Note: An editoral comment by a 3rd party internet article =/= what EA said. EA said they are putting micro-transactions into all their game properties. The editorial distorted that to mean P2W, even though there is as yet no evidence of P2W in EA games, this one included.
TwelveofFifteen
I hardly call a quote from financieel directeur Blake Jorgensen a third party comment. So, I await your reply on this one? Or is the financial director also a third party person from EA? It was implemented in Dead Space 3. TwelveofFifteen
As it is stated in the article that people pay money to get BETTER weapons INSTEAD OF PLAYING FOR THEM sounds ALOT like P2W to me.
Andryah
As it is stated in the article that people pay money to get BETTER weapons INSTEAD OF PLAYING FOR THEM sounds ALOT like P2W to me. Lunch Meat and Bolonga sound a lot of like to some people too. But Bolonga is a specific type of lunch meat within a wide range of available lunch meats. What is my point? Well, I'm glad you asked. My point: it is possible to make micro-transactions = P2W in a game, BUT not all micro-tranactions = P2W. In the context of this MMO (SWTOR) there is as yet NO evidence of P2W, but there is plenty of micro-transaction content. In the context of the article you linked.... it deliberately misrepresents what EA as a company has said and so far demonstrated about their plans for micro-transactions. Even if they do actually put P2W microtransactions into some of their other game properties......unless/until they put them into this MMO it is irrelevant to playing this MMO. TwelveofFifteen
So my article of the paper is wrong and Andryah is right isn't it? It almost seems that you do not want to accept or even think about having something BAD said about EA.One would amost think you are a person working for them. I will tell the folks at the paper that they are doing it wrong and they should speak to the almighty right Andryah about EA. He/She knows better then the people at the top. And if it is wrong, do you have irrefutable proof from the EA tops it is?I want hardcopy pressreleases signed and stated!
Bleeters
I'm generally of the opinion that the world would be a considerably better place if people stopped reading everything featured in a newspaper as irrefutable fact.

Jagrevi
The article is labelled: PAY_TO_WIN_IN_ALL_EA-GAMES Nuff said me thinks! An argument that a title requires no further thinking or evidenciary support. So my article of the paper is wrong and Andryah is right isn't it? Redefining a debate as a personal contest. And if it is wrong, do you have irrefutable proof from the EA tops it is? I want hardcopy pressreleases signed and stated! Mis-understanding of burden of proof. Levity
My goodness, how naive you have become... Must be the new generation... Wait, you mean the generation that critically thinks for itself instead of swallowing all the hodge podge put into papers? I bet the person who wrote that article "clipped" out one fragment of a sentence where you need the entire paragraph of what he said to really know what he meant. And that's how it is for any journalist writing an article. So how about lets not get all paranoid and wait and see what happens, eh?
Jagrevi
Debunking threads and postings is easy, It is. It's always easier than proving something, and for good reason. You're the one that actually has to prove something, as the person making the claim. Your premise was challenged, and you haven't defended it at all, you've pointed to the title and made logical fallacies and personal attacks. You might be right, but you're doing a horrible job supporting your claim. come with solutions and evidence then. Mis-understanding of burden of proof again. My goodness, how naive you have become... Must be the new generation... Redirecting argument away from substance. Personal attacks. Edited March 3, 2013 by Jagrevi
