Viiperace
As we all know Rise of the Hutt cartel will be coming out soon and im here to share an idea of a new Mini Game they should design Pod Race (back story) First Ever pod race has been invented from the hutts as their current games grew old Everyone gets a Standard Series Pod Racer depending on their class Single Player Pod Race - a few tracks - quests involve doing tricks/taking shortcuts/ beating the champion. - Upgrades From both NCP/cartel coins - Skin upgrades from Cartel Coins - Each race won gives rewards Multiplayer races -same tracks as single player -10 player match -betting involved through a vote system (First second thrid/Win takes all) -Pod Racer has health it can be destroyed which will make you lose the race -quests as well (daily) for parts Yes no? think of any other things to add to it be my guest
Altyrell
I think you mean Swoop Racing as the first version of Pod Racing Vehicles that would appear in the Movie Era haven't been created yet
Vitas
I think you mean Swoop Racing as the first version of Pod Racing Vehicles that would appear in the Movie Era haven't been created yet There is no date as to when the first machine podracer was introduced, we can assume it already has and for some time now. I'm open for it along with swoop racing. Edited January 5, 2013 by Vitas
Altyrell
There is no date as to when the first machine podracer was introduced, we can assume it already has and for some time now. I'm open for it along with swoop racing. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Podracing Podracing traced its roots back to the days of animal-drawn carts,[1] from which evolved races with hanno speeders. The events were held by Boonta the Hutt himself after his victory over the Parliament of Moralan and even after his death.[2] Ultimately, this sport's development kept pace with that of galactic technology to evolve into Podracing. The concept of modern day podracing was started on Malastare by alien racer Gustab Wenbus. Wenbus had entered himself in a race with a super-fast prototype pod designed by a mechanic named Phoebos. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Phoebos Phoebos was the creator of the first podracer. An engineer, this being was brazen enough to attach a repulsorlift cockpit to two jet engines. The Phoebos Memorial Run race on Malastare was named in his honor. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Phoebos_Memorial_Run Date = 32 BBY The Phoebos Memorial Run (alternatively Phoebus Memorial Classic) was a podracing course on the world of Malastare. It was part of the Vinta Harvest Classic circuit, sponsored by Vinta Harvest Ale and Haor Chall Engineering. The race was named after the creator of the first podracer, Phoebos. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Vinta_Harvest_Classic Date = 32 BBY ================== So no matter how you slice it, I doubt that the Organizers would've waited over 3,600 years to honor Phoebos. Therefore, it would be easy to deduce that Phoebos wouldn't have been born during this Era.
Drudenfusz
I would prefer pod racing over swoop racing, and I see no big issue in ignoring some obscure details of the lore that someone has written somewhere and nobody really cares about it. Would not be the first time that something gets retconed. BioWare should just ask LucasArts and if they say it's okay, go ahead and give us some pod racing. Therefore, it would be easy to deduce that Phoebos wouldn't have been born during this Era. It still doesn't state when he died or when the first podracer was built. It's possible that it did take that long till a race track in his name was created but we have no evidence that states this other than when it was built. A lot can happen within hundreds of years, things become forgotten, technology re-emerges especially during the Republic Dark Age. The idea of a vehicle with two engines seems like a no brainer and since the early drawn carts were around the time of Boonta which was approx. 25,000 BBY, we can imagine something to may've happened in between then and 3,643 BBY to 3,641 BBY. As there is no set date as to when podracing had exactly started, I think we should keep the possible inclusion of it open until future source material states otherwise.
