Quething Posted September 10, 2012 Share Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) There is absolutely no practical way whatsoever for the game to know whether you play healer or DPS other than asking you. It can't look at your talent trees and see how you're specced, or do some kind of gear check. Tank guardians spec Vigilance. Low-level healer mercs put their first six points in Assault instead of Bodyguard. Healers take Power over Alacrity and marauders use juggernaut armoring. Players do unexpected stuff, full stop. You cannot program enough variables to account for it. You have to just let the player choose. That's going to leave room for errors cropping up here and there. It's certainly bad UI design, though. Nothing forces you to look at your role assignment and there's no prompt at any point asking you to evaluate it, you're just expected to know to look for it. Which is probably unreasonable to expect of a player who's never used an MMO groupfinder before. Also, there's the random role reset you got, which I think is a bug. I hope it's a bug.
