1.4 Nerf Confirmed: 10m Range for Cryo

As per the title, our primary CC and secondary interrupt will have its range reduced from 30m to 10m. How does everybody feel about this? Is it going to be a problem in PVE? How will this affect your ability to manage stray mobs and adds? Do you really even care?

This will affect me a lot, as I use the cryo grenade every chance I get.

I typically cryo one player and then immediately storm into another, in order to distract or interrupt two people at once.

Sometimes, I use it to try and save another teammate who is getting beat down., when I'm too far away to do anything else.

Maybe I'll take the points out of the cooldown reduction and place them somewhere else. We'll see.

In PvE this changes almost nothing.

To start off I play a Commando Gunnery DPS but I am atm rolling a vanguard tank as well. For a Vanguard who lives at the 10m range this may not seem like a bug deal, but as a Commando, range is my friend and I have enough trouble keeping things back to now be forced to move in to use an ability. Cyro grenades haven't seems to be a big problem that I can see. Why not add a root to concussion charge or something. Why do they think the range on cyros needs to be reduced in the first place? Did they consider the effects it would have to both advance classes?

I'm going to be honest, to me these nerfs are going to be a pain and a lame change.

 

For a tanking vanguard it may be good but what about the people that likes to play as a "semi-ranged" dps like me?

 

I use the Assalt Specialist damage tree and I like to throw away grenades and fire balls from range prior to close the gap a little bit. Also, as an Assalt Specialist, I'm planning to use the skill points until i can get the Assalt Plastique WHICH IS ALSO HAVING ITS RANGE NERFED!

 

Also, we already don't have any kind of "long term" CC, only the cryo grenade and a few others that lasts no more than 5 ~ 10 seconds.

 

On that note, they still want to nerf the range of the only things we can use to help on crowd control a little bit.

 

But why's that? I tell you why... because of the PvP players crying around that Vanguard / Powertechs are too overpowered, which is not true in my opinion.

 

You wanna see an OP class? Take a look at the Sith Marauders... they slaughter everyone in PvP warzones.

 

This nerfing will also have a HUGE impact in PvE as well, since (as said above) we won't be able to help in crowd control from a little longer range.

 

Bioware needs to listen to the PvE only players too, because this game is not only about PvP.

 

I rerolled a trooper just to play as a DPS Vanguard and now I get this coming to me... really, really LAME!
