Kallas_br
First let me apologize for my terrible english. Ok my first Vanguard and i'm thinking about a hybrid spec and wanna a opiniom of you guys. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801ZMsrrobfoZfGMbzh.1 i choose this spec for the extra dps that gut provide, and the combos with: BATTERING RAM, COMBAT TATICS AND PULSE GENERATOR. tops the tradicional compo that asault spec provides. so what you guys think... Opinions or changes are very welcome TNX
Cotlu-Hunlon
While it's a nice idea, there is no point try to half do each tree and get bits from both, it's simply hindering your damage and effectiveness really. Jack of all trades = master of none as the saying goes; well similar thing here. However, if you want to play like this which is fine during levelling if you are 2 levels ahead or so, I would just suggest you move the points out 2% endurance boost into Nightvision Scope, because 2% endurance does pretty much nothing compared 2% more dmg reduct and better spotting of stealthers if you do Pvp. However I would simply suggest going full tactics or assault specialist.
masterbason
Hi, idk... but i guess that "pulse generator" ins't working as expected... imo you should try http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801ZMsMroZfhrbzGhMc.1 +30% critical bonus for HiB/Plasma Cell/IR +3% adc critical chance +30% increases damage by periodic elemental effects( includes gut ) +9% dmg for HiB and SS you'll get a great dmg with if well rotate... MGNMTTRN
I've run almost this exact build, except I went with 2 points in Parallactic Combat Stims rather than 2 points in Soldier's Endurance. As a vanguard DPS you had better be the second-most sturdy member of the group, after the tank. The 2 points in endurance will not increase your DPS and survivability shouldn't be a consideration when you allocate skill points. Whereas the 2 points in PCS will help you occasionally recharge more ammo on those extremely common occasions where major bosses do aoe stun effects. Oh, I also didn't put points in Sweltering Heat. I don't put points in skills that have no effect on bosses; since bosses are immune to movement impairment, I think I usually buy nightvision scope. It's a toss-up between NVS and Degauss because both will increase your survivability, which is only rarely useful. As far as the viability of the build, I've used it and I think it's awesome. I CANNOT spend my ammo fast enough, and I always have procs available to help me push out more DPS. The procs you get include1) 25% chance on stockstrike and gut to get 100% crit with the next HIB; bear in mind Gut does a DOT, so it is possible that every tick of the DOT gives you another chance to get the proc2) pulse cannon does 150% damage after every explosive surge and ion pulse3) ion pulse additionally has a 30% chance to make the next stockstrike free4) ion pulse has a 100% chance to trigger the plasma cell DOT5) HIB has 90% armor penetration and returns 1 ammo when it hits a burning target; all your enemies should have burns, so this is virtually a guaranteed +1 ammo on every HIB6) every 6 seconds you have a 45% chance with ion pulse and 60% chance with stockstrike to refresh your HIB In addition, you should have DOTs from1) incendiary round2) Gut3) plasma celldoing DOTs to your targets at all times I am really irritated that one of the above posters dismissed this build without giving the issue any actual thought. I am a big fan of this build and think it's awesome.

Nyoro
Seems like a pretty solid build, all the goodies of tactics with the superior DPS of plasma cell. Edit: After testing it seems rather inferior. Gut does alot less damage than Ion Pulse + Plasma cell without the chance to proc IA. It seems the only decent gain is the reduced cooldown on riot strike, not really enough to offset the DPS loss though. MatticusFinch
My initial thoughts are that you should focus on one tree, as has been mentioned. But, I think it's worth trying out myself. Thanks to MGNM for pointing out the highlights, I'll use that as a guide and post back here with what I think about it.
Citizen-Snips
this is a PVP build and is not viable in PVE so HMs have nothing to do with this build. it is a very solid build when doing WZ's but keep in mind if you do both PVP and PVE you will be spending some credits changing your build
CivicTiger
1 reason why this hybrid is useless. Assault Plastique will do more damage itself then the whole duration of 'Gut' would.
CitizenFry
I'd try to find a way to get points into Hold the Line and Hamstring. HtL is kinda crazy for mobility, and Hamstring combined with Sweltering Heat can really hold opponents in place. The big value of this kind of build is your amazing mobility and multitarget DPS (from Pulse Cannon and DoTs on multiple targets). If you aren't taking advantage of that, you'd probably do better going heavier into the Assault tree. Edited June 4, 2012 by CitizenFry
Krayshawn
ALL YOUR ENERGY WILL BE MINEZZZZ. im sorry man but this build will reck your ammo. You should call it "changing mag!" and dedicate it to CoD.
