where are good hardcore rp servers?

They answered you and honestly they are correct but don't hesitate to roll Republic on LA. We need more peeps over there like it's no one's business. Empire is definitely bigger so will probably grant you more opportunity as per logically math but Republic isn't bad...just small.

Having rerolled from a RP server that has gone low pop onto a high pop regular PvE server, I have to say that I miss the RP server feel. General chat is a cesspool of idiocy, names are moronic, and behavior is asinine. When/if server transfers come, I'd love to see a concerted effort to concentrate populations on one or two west coast RP servers (I don't care if it is PvE or PvP).

For West Coast players, of course. Not that East Coast and the rest of the world couldn't do the same thing.

I'm on Sanctum of the Exalted and I think it's great. You really can't count on folks saying "I hate my server" because most folks *leave* if they hate their server, so getting an unbiased opinion is pretty unlikely...

Having said that...

Sanctum is great! It's great because there's a good community of people that are focused on cooperating to make Sanctum a nice place to play.

To wit:

We have many guilds that fit a wide diversity of playstyles. Big and small, RP and no-RP, Imp and Rep (or both). The GLs are also in cahoots. We seek out other GLs and communicate about ways we can maintain our server.

We have lots of volunteers who've done a lot of altruistic work to create fun events and resources for other players.

We have our own server forums http://www.sanctumoftheexalted.enjin.com

We have our own Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/359245180777088/

We have lots of server wide events: http://www.sanctumoftheexalted.enjin.com/events

We have t-shirts http://www.cafepress.com/scorpienne/8383874

We even have a soundtrack! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f3MK-hiKa8

We keep up IC and OC galaxy-wide channels.

Republicnet is the Republic IC channel, and Republicooc is the Republic OOC channel. These are server-wide. Imperialnet and Imperialooc are the Imperial equivalents. They’re generally quiet, until someone starts RPing and then a lot of folks chime in.

We have “enough” people that there’s always someone around. At peak hours, we range from 600-1,000 people on the server, and our Republic to Imperial ratio is very even.

Survey here so you can see how the numbers were calculated http://www.thethirteenthlegion.torportal.com/, click survey, and follow the link to the data.

Analysis of numbers and imp/rep ratio is here: http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb420/scorpienne/General%20SWTOR%20Screenshots/rep_imp_ratio_1to50unpaired.jpg

and http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb420/scorpienne/General%20SWTOR%20Screenshots/PeakHrsLvl50s.jpg

Don't believe me, though, I'm biased.

Take the Ideal Guild Quiz and set your server as "Sanctum" to see what guilds fit your playstyle: http://www.tortoolbox/quiz

Do a little homework to see what fits your needs and playstyle best! I'd love to know what server you finally choose and *why* you chose it.

I wanted to like Sanctum, as I heard great things about it. But when I got there and leveled a couple characters up past level 40, I saw few people RPing anywhere. So, I rolled on LA and was gobsmacked; there were people RPing out in the open. Perhaps Sanctums RP all happens in guilds tucked away somewhere, or on private channels? Kind of a shame, if that's the case. Perhaps it's improved, because it's not much fun scrounging for RP as a new player. Edited by ProsaicProse

/shrug

I guess we've had very different experiences on Sanctum, which is understandable. Each person interacts with the social environment in a different way. A lot of our guilds advertise open RP events on our server forums (http://www.sanctumoftheexalted.enjin.com) and they're open to anyone who wants to participate.

Sanctum RPs in the open also. You just have to be in the right place. I myself used to be on LA. I left due to some of the weird things I saw that I don't think people need to do in a game kids play.

Did it involve a wookiee and 3 jawa?

a game rated 16+ is not exactly a kids game...

I one-hundred percent agree with that. If you have children or siblings younger than 16 playing the game, they should probably be in a family guild with adult supervision. To be fair, up to a certain age, in my house, children aren't allowed on the internet without adult supervision - but each family should decide that for themselves.

On the other hand, there are also very personal and private things that may occur in MMOs, and those personal and private things need to stay personal and PRIVATE in party chat. There are a lot of things people shouldn't type in public. If it isn't suitable to say in a bar in public in a group of friends, then it isn't suitable to type in public chat.

Most likely it involved 2 wookie, 1 jawa ;)

Btw, a game rated 16+ is not exactly a kids game...

If you don't think a 16 year old is still a kid then what are they? That's part of the problem now. Young people are exposed to things they have no business being involved in. I have a lot of experience in foreign countries and out of the way places so I've seen my share of debauchery. Even I was surprised with some of the stuff I saw being done on RP servers in WoW so I am just a bit careful about RP servers in general now. Like the lady said.. Some things just should not be said in public. I err on the side of caution but then again. I've always been protective of kids and the like in general.

In most countries, the 16 yr olds have reached the age of consent. For the record, I don't disagree with the notion that personal and private things should stay that way, as a matter of propriety. I just don't believe that 16 yr olds will get mental scars from any ERP going on around them.

Ted Bundy said one of the things that drove him down his dark path was an early exposure to ***********. As he was on his way to the chair anyway I doubt he's lying. 16 is not a place marker for maturity it's a number. To say all 16 year olds could handle this is a rather large and irresponsible statement.

I'm out of this conversation. Getting personal on gaming forums is so WoW.

Okay then, one parting shot: have you ever considered the opposite, that assuming all 16 year olds can't handle it is extremely close-minded? Not to mention the fact that we all know people who play violent video games develop into mass murderers... right.

What was personal? Because I pointed out saying all 16 year olds are cookie cuttered to a maturity level is not responsible? Take a look at the link below. I am not saying everyone who plays those sorts of video games goes wrong but this young man said he played to prepare himself. Though that's not mentioned in this link. It's a bit off topic but since you brought it up.

I didn't mean to offend you if I did, my apologies. Color me surprised as you seem not the type be easily offended .

I still believe people mature at different rates and some people playing this game should take that into account and keep the weirdness to a private personal level. I still would rather err on the side of caution. No matter how many "mature" underage individuals are out there playing the game.

^ Agree. Also, it seems inappropriate to bring up people committing horrible crimes (something generally rare that is entirely unspecific to gaming, or the internet) in conjunction with game ratings, or how people spend their time on this game.

Don't worry, I'm not offended :)

I just realized that your personal opinion differs from my personal opinion, you believe my opinion is irresponsible and I believe yours is close-minded, and we could probably fill up another 50 pages and never agree. I'd hate to do that to our forum readers, plus we seem to have drifted off-topic as well.

Let's just agree to disagree. You think of 16 year olds as kids, whereas I think of them as young adults. You know what, we may actually both be right, but only about half of them ;)

Glad I didn't offend you. Yes, we see things differently, and that's not a bad thing either. I am a bit close minded, especially when it comes to kids. I'll admit that in a heart beat. We got off topic and I apologize to the OP, but at least I learned a few things. And that's never a bad thing.
