Frankly I couldn't care less about 25% less damage, or less crit or whatever. Sure, it's annoying... but where is our dynamic play? And how can anyone in their mind increase the cast time from 1.5 to 2.0 in the name of "dynamicness"? Bioware, in order to promote upper body activity, would go and chop off someones legs. Aaoogaa Posted March 19, 2012 Share Posted March 19, 2012 As you have to do more to try and avoid the increased incoming damage you are taking and try and overcome the less damage you are doing...the dynamic comes from the running around looking for a healer to help you....sadly they will all be rerolling other DPS. Don't worry though...when that marauder or operative jumps you...you will have 3-5 seconds to let go of your keyboard and stretch while you wait for the release button. BobaFaceroll Posted March 20, 2012 Share Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) There is no dynamic play. What there is in its place is a 10% damage reduction to Charged Bolt and Grav Round. This is supposed to encourage people that do nothing but mash one button to do something else....to be more dynamic. It's negative reinforcement instead of what we were all hoping for (well I was at least) which was an overhaul of the tree so it didn't center around Grav Round. Unfortunately this will not produce the desired results and foster more dynamic play. If you were the type of person that spec'd Gunnery and did nothing but mash one button you will continue to do so. Why? Because you were not concerned with maximizing your damage output under the current system. If you did nothing but spam Gra Round you already did less damage than a Trooper that used all of his abilities. A 10% reduction won't change that mindset. Grav Round will still be effective enough to spam ad nauseum, and so it will be spammed. Honestly, this change hurts people outside the Gunnery/Arsenal tree the most. Assault and Combat Medic Specs (and their Imperial counterparts) still use Charged Bolt and they take a 10% damage hit there too. Worse still there's no increase in damage output in Assault anywhere to make up for that loss. You will also take an induction hit if they don't spec at least 6 points in to Gunnery. This has nothing to do with encouraging more dynamic play as those trees don't just spam one skill...but they will be caught in the crossfire nonetheless. It's quite disheartening.
