Advanced Prototype is lacking in DPS

While we don't have combat logs (they are coming), you can still do dps tests. Someone else from Sithwarrior http://sithwarrior.com/forums/Thread-Powertech-Vanguard-DPS-Compendium?pid=16321#pid16321 did a test on the level 38 world boss.

 

Here are the results (the person is using Columni/Rakata gear, same gear each test):

All tests done with the same exact gear loadout, both rotations opened up with Explosive Fuel + Death From Above

 

AP test (using this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301hMh...rfkdsZb.1)

Pseudo rotation: Immolate > RP (proc) > RB (refresh) > RS (proc) > FB > FT (stacked 4-5)

Average damage done over 3 Minutes: 200250 (boss shown in-game at 75%)

Average damage done over 4 minutes: 255156 (boss shown in-game at 68%)

Avg DPS: ~1088

 

Pyro test (using this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301hMb...bbdGhMc.1)

Pseudo rotation: IM (refresh) > RP > RS (proc) > FB

Average damage done over 3 minutes: 225137 (boss shown in-game at 72%)

Average damage done over 4 minutes: 288150 (boss shown in-game at 65%)

Avg DPS: ~1226

 

The TLDR is that AP builds need to at least get close to Pyro. That is about 11% dps lost by using the wrong tree (AP vs. Pyro).

I hope there is some class tuning in patch 1.2.

ye i was doing some tests myself, using a 15sec rotation(10abilties) as a base. And pyro was still beating AP in both DPS and heat management(if done correctly)
