rotfish Posted February 27, 2012 Share Posted February 27, 2012 I have been leveling pure shield tank spec since level 10 and im now 30.. Im thinking of speccing into assault for more dmg. Im seeing mixed information here on vanguard forum, about using ion cell over plasma cell if speccing into assault. Is plasma cell really weak compared to ion cell just because of the massive dmg reduction from using ion cell? Or is it just plain obvious to use plasma cell with assault since they are supposed to work together? Assault good for leveling too? thx Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you use Shield in off-hand, you're a tank with very good dps and procing HIB from Ion Pulse and Stock. Pure plasma build with Plasma cell is made for kiting but u can't kite because you HAVE TO stay in melee for stock and pulse abilities, so, it's senseless. It works great in Commando Assault. This is what I use now in PVP http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#8010MZMsZbIbrzGGrs.1 with Ion Cell. 3 talents seems to go nowhere but it's for Hight Friction Bolts. I did fine soloing PVE content with plasma cell and power generator on. Keeping Ion cell on with the assault spec is much more resource intensive, as you have to DOT or stun every enemy to use your HIB. Plasma + Ion Pulse auto burns the target, allowing your next move to be a 1-cell cost HIB and if proc-ed a +1 cell refund. Heavy hitting gold mobs will need to be kited, and you can use stock strike by allowing them to catch up every 10 seconds for this exact purpose. If you're in full DPS mode, you wade in and cycle SS/IP for maximum damage of course. If you're KITING, you simply apply Ion Pulse as needed for the burn, snare, and chance for HIB procs. Ion Pulse works fine at the perfect range- about 10m. In PvE, you've got someone else DPSing at full while you tow the mob around- you just keep aggro and pick away at them while Aric/Yuun/whoever is tearing it up from behind. Stockstrike isn't in the picture for obvious reasons, unless you're freezing a mob in place (harpoon/cryo/SS -> backing up with an HIB). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
