850 watts, updated drivers, and have the 6 pin plugged in from power supply and had to use 8 pin adapter with 2 6 pins hooked into it

also using the evga precision that came with it, it shows my gpu is at 100% while playing. is this normal?

Just stating the obvious-- you have a good enough Power Supply to support a 580? I.E. are you sure that your 580 is not running in a lower power setting?

Make sure you have updated drivers and are not using default drivers.

wait i could be wrong, i was double checking the drivers, but mine is 285.66 but their website says the current drivers are 285.62 but yet it says my drivers are up to date. so which one is right?

I am using 285.62 not sure that the other .66 is correct, unless it is not on their website which would not make sense, suggest downloading the "latest" driver from the NVIDIA website to ensure that you have a "stable" version of the driver for your system
