Space Combat: Republic and Empire

So after playing my Imperial toon for quite a while I thought I'd try out a Republic, see what the storyline is and all that(plus they are outnumbered so thought it'd be nice).

Was really looking forward to seeing what kind of space missions the Republic side got as opposed to empire. And surprise surprise! They are exactly the same. Only done the first ones, and while there might be some difference in the pathing of the first escort mission, it's still exactly the same concept, the same mission, same everything. On the station assault mission EVERYTHING is exactly the same. Only switched the models. The enemy ships in the Republic mission appear at the exact same positions and exact same times as on the Imperial.

For a game you boast about having spent loads and loads of money on, this sure was a CHEAP way to do it. Really disappointing.

If I was a game director and this was the very best we could come up with for variation between factions, I would not boast about money going into the game, I'd be ashamed. Honestly. Everything in this game Empire vs Republic is just a complete mirror except the cosmetics. Variation is what attracts people, variation might have improved the horrible faction balance.

And if they made the missions different, people would complain that X faction missions are harder/easier...

These forums are proof that some people are just looking for anything to complain about.

Not at all. In fact, every MMO I've played that has had factions has had completely different missions for pretty much everything. By this crappy logic then they should make all the planet missions the same as well, but they haven't, and I can honestly say I've seen few to none complaints about leveling being harder on one side as opposed to the other.

If you think this is perfectly fine, expected and the best way to go about it, then please feel free to disagree. But please understand, we critisize because we care, because we like the game and want to see it improved. No need to break out the Fanboi Handbook™ on me.

Space combat is just a mini-game.....why does it even matter?

That's why the other guy said "people will complain about anything", and, honestly, it's a trivial thing to complain about.
