Complainers = .05% of SWTOR

There were 1.7 million active subscribers as of 1 week ago. Said number was growing as of February 1.

When people experience a problem in-game, they will either file a bug report, quit the game, or come to forums.

To be conservative in my math, I will assume there are 1,000 unique complainers a day on the forums posting about a "breaking bug."

1,000 / 1,700,000 = .05% of the SWTOR population

Using my VERY generous assumptions, only .05% of the SWTOR population hate the game enough to post about it. The other 99.95% are either enjoying the game, or have moved on silently without saying a word.

The .05% are also the most raucous and voisterous, making wild generalized claims about how the game is a failure. They purport to represent the other 99.95% of the population.

Thank you.

The game's population has indeed started to grow again, and if there is one thing that is more important to me than an LFG tool or combat log, it would have to be playerbase, this game has a healthy population at the moment that is growing, if it can keep growing, i will stay with this game simply for that one reason, lets face it, nobody wants to play on an empty server do they?

I'm fairly certain that subscription numbers are not reported to the SEC as they are not financial information.

I beat this dead horse to death in my other threads regarding Press Releases (you know, where people were claiming the numbers were all lies)

There you go.

You're welcome.

The infamous "Character Responsiveness" last thread had 145,908 views. Lets presume - since it was a really hot topic - that the previous 4 threads had 200,000 views each. Thats almost 1 million page views in one month.

I've run a couple of tests, and it appears the views number seems to be unique views. Or at least it doesnt add up in the same session/different browsers. So depending on what is held accountable for the Views number - and it seems that either it does only account unique views or as a really high % of them. That means there was a huge number of people reading that thread.

Far more than your 0.5%. Because you see, it doesnt matter who posts what. What REALLY matters to a company is how many people know it/saw it/read it. And in the thread used as an example, I have 0 doubts of the impact is has had on this game, both internally and externally.

These 0.5% can have a tremendous impact on any product, much more so in MMOs case.

Link?

If you can't provide the link, we'll take it as your fabricated "evidence"

According to the SEC's complaint against Diebold, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the company manipulated its earnings from at least 2002 through 2007 to meet financial performance forecasts, and made material misstatements and omissions to investors in dozens of SEC filings and press releases.

You lose.

I only need my own % worth of opinion. This game was not done. They launched it to early. End game is the same old boring stuff I have been doing far to long in warcraft and they failed by not changing more then the skin...

As far a the rest of the 2 million. Enjoy. I did tell lvl 50. The rest is history, I wont be back.

So they were included incidentally as part of a press release that contained actual financial information, the information that the SEC cares about. Find me the regulation that says MMO subscription numbers must be reported to the SEC. I'll be waiting.
