Your best bet would be assault as you can ir, hib, and ap then weave in explosive round and hammer shots as needed for a decent ranged rotation. You still won't be getting any ionic accelerator charges which is really the specs bread and butter. The other 2 specs rely fully on being within 4-10 meters. shucksy Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 If you want to do damage outside of 10m then vanguard isn't the class for you, sure you can do decent burst and the damage isn't *that* bad with hammershot on a burning target if you go assault but you'll be nowhere near as effective as commando in either spec. Calibretto Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 In my personal opinion the Vanguard's Assault tree plays the closest to the 1-10 leveling experience. You have to mix some melee with your range attacks (Stockstrike, Ion Pulse, Ion Cannon) but you have access to several powerful ranged attacks. Incendiary Round, a talented High Impact Bolt and Assault Plastique all become part of your bread and butter rotation. You'll never reach the ranged damage of the Commando but you get several things in exchange. va_wanderer Posted January 30, 2012 Share Posted January 30, 2012 "Ranged" DPS for us really is that 30m -> 10m range. Which isn't a -bad- thing, especially with some melee abilities. You can probably manage a decent rotation, especially if you reduce your cooldown on pulse cannon. But for whatever reason, Bioware seems to think smacking mobs with your rifle butt should be bread-and-butter. You'll probably be mostly Assault and splashing a few points into Tactics and the bottom of Shield. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
