"Rich Yield" slicing lockbox missions?

Seems like I'm missing something here, but these missions seem useless. They cost about twice as much as a 'moderate yield' lockbox mission, but both sets of missions give the exact same reward as far as I can tell. Unlike other crew skills I've never gotten a larger quantity from a rich yield slicing lockbox mission, always just one lockbox with a quality relative to the mission and the same relative number of credits.

I'd normally chock it up to bad luck, but I've done dozens (maybe hundreds) of them and never gotten anything special, whereas when I do Rich Yield missions for scavenging/bioanalysis/archaeology/etc. the difference is almost always immediately apparent.

Am I just ridiculously unlucky or are these missions bugged/worthless?

If you are sending a companion that isn't good with slicing or isn't your droid companion then that's where you are going wrong. Send your ship droid. Yes there's no bonus or critical bonus from him, but you have a much better chance of getting a profit. If you are max lvl slicing then there's no point to send your companions on missions. Just go gather from nodes. No cost to go farm the nodes yourself :D Good luck :)

Just unlucky, I just sent out 3 companions all came back with crits. I usually get a crit once every one or two. And this includes lvl 340 missions and blue level boxes with 6-10k creds in it for the 1.5-2k I spent to send out. *knock on wood* I have been doing Azure Databse (Least lucky) Taking back control Finding our way and His Home in the castle.

where are you getting the idea that the droid is better for slicing? source or anything would be nice, or maybe youre just making stuff up

Because on all of my characters, I've used my ship droid to do the missions...i have most of them at 400 slicing already. The only one that does better is my Jedi Guardian because T-7 gets a slicing bonus. But it's not always a profit. For example, sometimes I get huge crits when my ship droid (or T-7) does a mission. But normally, I either get back what I spent for sending him on the mission, or i get between 100-200 credits more. Other times i get 20 credits less than the mission cost. It's random. But I rarely lose more than 100 credits so leveling up using missions isn't a bad way to make some extra cash but actually gathering the nodes in the open world is the best way to make money after 400 slicing.

If you always use the droid, how do you know it's better than any other character?

Im a BH and Mako gets a +15 bonus to slicing its amazing!

If you go to torhead or wiki for companions it gives you a list of what they get bonuses

for.

Mako has +15 effectiveness bonus. It has nothing to do with crit chance. It only speeds mission completion time. It is noticeable only on unlockable missions, where Mako cuts 2 hour mission into 90-100 minutes one.

I'm a smug and for a whole month now, the ship droid seems to yield better cash boxes than my 9k affection (it doesn't really factor since affection is for speed not chance). That's the thing with random, it's random! Though sometimes we formulate perceived patterns due to personal experiences. Trust me I'm a casino craps player for over a decade and while the dice does not have memory there are perceived patterns based on experience.

i love the people that say they get crits every 1 or 2 missions. I have 4/5 companions at 10k affection and the last at 7k atm (i am SW so i get 0 slicing bonus instead i get armstech crit *** over).

i get around 6 crits in an 8 hour period only sending out on Rich/bountiful(3/4/5) missions and the abundant 6(just to get 340 procs) and most of the crits return useless diplomacy or investigation missions.

I think there is a bug where a companion with a bonus to a crafting skill is more likely to fail a mission.

My Mako is the only one failing green slicing missions ("Data Race"), more then once. All the others have never failed any.

Also yesterday Vector failed 2 Diplomacy missions in a row, while my ship robot (they ran missions together, same difficulty) returned with nice loot both times, including epics.

It's like there is a kind of "handicap" when there are bonuses involved. Higher expectations?
