Players can buy stock in commodities such as Red Goo for example. The stock price would rise and fall based on what they sell for on the GTN. I buy out all the red goo and put it up for 10x normal price.... profit... or the other way. If done correctly it would be very risky and take large sums of money to manipulate the market, but it should be fair game. For example in the real world JP Morgan manipulate the silver market, but if the cost of silver were to go over the cost of their own stock value they will bankrupt them overnight.
