Now i know as a commando we are encuraged to use assult cannons, but in the start of the class series on ord mantell we use assult rifle and was just wondering if can still continue to do that? I know there is a skill or two that i have seen so far (only level 14) that requires assult cannon however i would pref to use rifle. I know its not something gamebreaking i just find the cannon bulky, and annoying! No. If you want to do any meaninful damage, you have to use your asssault cannon. Play a vanguard if you want to use the rifle, they do beastly damage if you play assault specialist because HIB is 90% armour pen and resets when you use ion something or other (your main spam ability). If anyone questions you on using a blaster rifle just hit back with the truth. Just tell them "I think this looks prettier and I don't mind being bad at the game". Just tell them "I think this looks prettier and I don't mind being bad at the game". if all you intend to do is solo PvE play, then go ahead and do this. Yes/No. I have noticed that in war-zones I tend to get ignored alot because my lack of assault cannon. I'm guessing people aren't pegging me as a Grav Round DPSer. It also depends upon the rifle stats. I mean if you can find a rifle that has similar stats... by all means go for it. I found one that has pretty similar. Sure I have 100 damage less max damage but I'm not too concerned about that at level 50. If someone pegs me as a wonky bad player with my vanguardness than I'm better off. I have used both extensively and I have found that the blaster rifle at least IN MY OPINON, provides me with better results in PvP because of the fact stated above. Treeki Posted January 22, 2012 Author Share Posted January 22, 2012 I should have been more specific, it was my intention for solo play, well mostly but also for healing, i like the idea of a combat medic with the probes.
