Vanguard Tank: crew skills?

Biochem gets you some really good medpacks that are bind on acquire at the highest levels (so you can't give them to an alt), while Cybertech gets you some really good grenades that are bind on acquire at the highest levels. Other than that, you can easily have an alt (or guildie) get you the crafted medpacks/stims or the enhancements/ship gear that the two skills normally give.

In either case, I'd recommend getting the craft skill, the gathering skill that supports it, and slicing (to earn cash) rather than the questing skill. Once you are sitting pretty in terms of cash, then drop slicing and pick up the questing skill if you want. Doing it that way and buying the quest-skill items from the galactic market is better overall than leveling the quest skill all along for the items you need.

The medpacks are NOT bound on aquire. So you can make them, use them, save them, and have an alt use them.

Biochem also makes Stimpacks, and the best stimpacks are extremly good and just to buy a green one would cost around 5k, now, you are making purple ones that is reusable.

A Biochemist is literally having a 2na armor pieace above everyone else as he is ALWAYS bufffed with a stat of his choosing.

Implants. Biochemists makes implants.

If you are in PVP, Biochem is probably the best closely followed by Cybertech. The reason to go cybertech is to make your own grenades, which is very cool.

All other professions are, honestly, utterly obsolete once you reach 50, while thats when biochem starts to be even MORE powerful.

Maybe in the future they will release better weapons and armor for crafters, but that have never, ever happened in another mmo so why should it now.

Just go Biochem and you will be fine and thank us for it later on.

PS: your gathering skills as a Biochemist is: Bioanalysis and Diplomacy. Do not take anything else.

The devs are trying to make all crafting professions equal and not allow one or two professions be the "must-have" ones. That's why biochem and cybertech got a nerf in 1.1.

I suppose it depends on your goals. Unless you do equal level missions all your way to lvl 50 to get equal level mods for armor upgrading...suffice you already attained a full set at lower level, then Armormech for example make better armor for several levels. I found it to be quite useful during my leveling.

Later on you can earn a decent amount of money perfecting trooper and smuggler armor at lvl 50 for epic recipes. Armormechs get more powerful recipes for bop armor themself, while everyone else will have to settle with questing their way to upgrades.
