  1. Hmm, I'll check my vault later. Quite sure I got an orange type stashed.
  2. If I remember the step correctly, then the quest is fine. He talks about contacting Jonas and will inform you LATER. The word later is the keyword and it's likely tied to your affection, so just wait it out and increase your affection. I assume you've completed your class story? Some companion steps aren't unlocked until you progress further in your own story.
  3. I think using a dps companion is far more efficient than using Elara. People tend to believe they have no downtime, but in theory they do as they take longer to kill mobs and Reload heals you insanely quickly after the fight. As for the dps companion difference, then switch to Forex as fast you can after gearing him abit. Aric hits hard, but his dps is worse as he's a burst type. This means his inbetween shots that often overkill mobs make him slower comapred to Forex that constantly fire with his blaster rifle. After that go with Tanno as he is melee. He'll be able to walk between targets and dish out damage easier, as Forex has to be managed with his close range abilities. If you however are bothered to manage this, then Tanno can't keep up in term of dps. Yuun in the end will be your final option. He jumps into battle and more or less insta frag the first target from his channeled damage burst. Tanno is much like Qyzen Fess, which have a small attack delay due to their weapon draw and using their charge. Properly geared, which is easier now with moddable tech staves, then Yuun crit champions easily for 3k on hits.
  4. Exactly, which I haven't as it's dreadfully slow to use Elara. In theory you also take more damage over time by having her active due to her useless killing speed, where as Yuun or Aric mincemeat mobs before hurting you enough.
  5. Troopers are included aswell. They have M1-4X, which is a ranged tank. You should've bumped into a huge white assault droid following troopers by now
  6. I can't say regarding the other classes, but later on when you get decent gear and more talents, you certainly don't feel squishy anymore. Typical caster mobs that deal elemental or internal damage are your bane, so try interupt or lock these down for minimal damage. Any other mob dosen't damage you alot. You'll only struggle a little in the beginning due to limited skills and talents, but after that and possible after pimping a damage companion then you will fly through content. Elara will be your "better safe than sorry healer companion", but she's incredibly slow and healer comps have low damage. As previously stated, then go with armormech for easily upgrading your companions. The only one being an issue is M1-4X, but you can buy gear with commendations, Market or mission rewards. Personally I skipped using Elara, went with Aric, Forex later in full damage gear rather than a tank, Tanno in full damage aswell as he's a bit easier to manage due to melee and in the end with Yuun being the melee damage ****** he is. In many cases you can manage elite types without a healer. Yes, you will have to rest a bit, but this is fast and easy compared to using Elara.
  7. In PvE I still don't see a difference other than I'm actually tougher now after augmented gear. Black Hole, Belsavis dailies etc. I just pull camps and let Yuun have at them. I've lost about 25% health when done with the packs and just charge a few ticks of Reload. No idea about PvP. I got bored about that a while ago, as the only thing you were up against in most matches was dot Marauders and "omg I shoot lightning!" sorcs. Types you melted from already.
  8. I think he's kinda cute for doing so. He's almost a personal bodyguard for being in the way Plus his oneliners are awesome.
  9. The stock is irrelevant for this topic. To my memory all major companies who mess with MMO games take time getting things straight from patching, new expansions and so on. Yes, it may have been a week and some testing should have been in order. Perhaps it was already, but something went further wrong after the testing? Considering we don't have their history of the proces, then alot of crap could've happend. I prefer to test my patience as I have no idea how time consuming it can be for BioWare to track down the broken program code, initiate a fix and stack it up with several other fixes. I'm sure they have a team working on it. The speed might be slow to some people, but I highly doubt they are just sitting on their behind and having a laugh from our grief.
  10. There are no crafted Generator offhands capable of being augmented? In that case I must be imagining things on my Vanguard and his Shield Generator...
  11. It's odd you mention companions taking a beat aswell. Do you feel it's only Trooper companions? Recently been leveling a Sage for Legacy buff, and I take tell you Quzen dosen't seem less squishy and he's basicly like Tanno Vik.
  12. That's kinda flawed when I'm already level 50. In any case I ran around with both a Commando and a Vanguard yesterday doing heroics on Corusant with my Sage, and I didn't see them being any more squishy than I was when leveling my Vanguard. Most of the times however, it really looks like alot of people tend to play facepalmed. Efficiency is far better than just storming into a crowd and think you're superman. Disable, debuff and then dps on any class makes everything much easier.
  13. Holy crap ALOT of you mention squishiness, but haven't discovered the reason yet? Are you even familiar with your trooper and stats? 0_o Heavy armor has less absorbtion now, which is the reason for melting. I don't think it's that bad though as Shield Spec when you get the absorbs up, but keep in mind especially with augments that both your Shield Chance and Absorb has fallen as augments are now split in stats. Before 1.2 my normal absorb (kinetic and energy) was around 49%. Now it's at 40-41% if I remember correct. Still I don't see a big change when doing Belsavis dailies on my own with Yuun. Stuff still die and I only have to do 1 or 2 ticks of Recharging as before.
  14. I went with Armormech during my leveling, so I could waste commendations on barrels and so on to equip Forex. Making armor made it easy to upgrade the other companions. You bump into moddable equipment for him plenty of times as mission rewards. His starting gear is poor, but after a bit of running around and gearing him up, then I felt he punched out damage quite well. Next to that you can use him for taunt switching in case you're up against some terribly tough bosses. I remember doing that to the Sand People boss on Taris. Keep in mind that his autofire is ALOT faster than Jorgan, meaning after his initial burst he's faster to down the mob(s), where as Jorgan takes ages to do his random bursts. Extra bonus is ofcourse his loyalist shouts about enemies and the Empire. Lots of humour from him As for the other companions, then Tanno works great too in damage gear. The only issue I have with him, is his delayed charge after set to attack something. Much like what you see with the lizard on Consulars. Another slight problem is that Tanno use Techblades, which are hard to find unless you know a good Armstech. This should be less of an issue in 1.2. The reason Yuun is always active to me is for many reasons. First off he got a charge that allow him to jump to the target, and so he dosen't have the delayed part. Secondly he got a "Bleed" stance causing Internal damage which is imo far better as it's less resisted on many targets including PvP people. There is just so much damage in this guy when properly fitted, that Elara is just a stall and a greater downtime as you can easily absorb the damage from most things. At level 50 I only use her if I go up against lots of elites or some certain 2+ heroics. So yes, if you went with Vanguard for leveling in tank spec, then by all means try and experiment with the tank companions in full dps gear. It works wonders, compared to facepalming yourself due to Captain Slow"Elara"ness.
  15. If you don't play on a PvP server, then Elara is really just a "better safe than sorry" companion. She's dreadfully slow in damage, can bug out on healing and your overall migitation is good enough for a decent encounter duration. I rarely used her during my leveling, unless I found the odd open map boss that dropped decent loot. I went with damage companions all the way. Midway though I refitted Forex to full damage and just disabled his tow ability. Rather than Storming people, then just walk into groups as Forex will be in close range aswell for his better abilities. He hurts plenty in dps gear. In the end you'll end up with Yuun who literally mow things down, while you take the little hurting mobs do. You can easily deal with an elite or two due to the short amount of time it takes Yuun to kill them. Just hotkey rest button and move on. Lots more fun than having Elara out.
