Some people like storylines. You really shouldn't of bought a BW game if you didn't. Voice acting is great. And clearly the guy has regrets about doing without it for 4 hours before he realized how good it was.

I do like storylines. And the VA is great quality. But BioWare can't write a script worth a darn so the efforts of the voice actors are moot. Even Morgan Freeman, Stephen Fry, and Jimmy Stewart couldn't make their dialogue work.

Hey, I'd rather stand up for myself and call someone out on their shoddy product rather than just lying back and taking all the punches. That's kind of what a man does. I apologize if the concept is foreign.

Your concept of being a "man" is beyond funny. A "man" comes to a forum, post anonymously, throws fits of speculation, insults people, and waste time "defending himself" for an online game?

Real "men" have better things to do with their time. Write them a nasty letter, unsubscribe, and move on. I'm sure your wife or girlfriend would enjoy you spending more time with them....oh wait.

I think what the BW apologists don't realize is that constructive criticism or even flaming outrage are the things that actually incite changes for the better.

Sitting back and taking it all while gladly forking over your money is the best way to ensure that the game gets worse by the day.

No, a "man" does not stick around a product he doesn't like for weeks, just to indulge in thinly veiled, opinionated hate. He admits that he did a bad job of researching the well known facts about said product, maybe voices his (hopefully constructive) feedback and moves on.

Sorry, if the reality of adult life is foreign.

Ever been to a website where you see peoples reviews of a restaurant? And I am not talking professional reviews but actual customers?

Yup. Beta testers did a bad job mostly. A question on the survey asked 'Would you recommend this game to a friend?' on a 1 to 10 scale. BW said they received great feedback and were very happy with the results. I bet people rated 9 and 10 out of 10. Beta was even worse than retail.

Sorry, they advertised high res graphics and AA, they did not put "Well we had to disable high res and AA, also we have ability delay that causes combat to be clunky" on the box or any website.

Constructive suggestions make things better. Not opinions presented as facts. Not reposting the same topic over and over to try to demoralize other players. These post are not constructive. They are here to cause trouble. There are many constructive post. Go find one. This isn't one.

So what was the budget? I've heard 300M and 120-180M. Either way, WoW had less of a budget.

I am thinking you need to adjust a little for inflation, far more in-depth writing and voice acting...and, oh yeah, the "nominal" licensing cost for the rights to Star Wars.

My criticism is constructive. Well, most of it is.

If BioWare had put me in charge of everything they would have had the greatest game of all time on their hands. This is a well-established fact.

The story was predictable

Hey that's about every TV show, movie, and video game...ahh what am i saying that is pretty much anything I have watched or read in the past 12 years.

Very rarely do i see/read a unique story that I couldn't figure out the what was going to happen.

Actually reposting and reiterating problems is probably the best way developers have to understand how wipespread certain issues/problems are among players.

Furthermore, what 'trouble' can unsatisfied customers expressing their opinions cause? I guess it's trouble for Bioware if they lose subs over it. Then again you could call it a service to players who were considering buying the game without being aware of the issues players have with it.

Sleep, wake up, go to work, volunteer, attend school, learn that you should never attempt to play a game at release again.

Not tired, on disability, graduated school, played other games at release and they were 200x better than this one.

Innovation : how to avoid

- 'go here, kill X for Y times' model

- Escort quests

Clearly, they havent innovate enough

Honestly the 3 escort quests I actually had to do on empire were amazing and hilarious. At the end of the day though it's still an MMO and it still has the same basic quests as any other MMO.

Things that I liked:

Actually not feeling a need to rush to max level. In SW:TOr as a sith apprentice I found that most imperial officers feared and respected me. As I progressed through the story my reputation seemed to be known by NPCs. This does a lot to draw you into the story. Contrast to say Warcraft where you might slay some old super-wizard/lich about to consume the world in death and your next quest is to go rifling through pig poop and everyone assumes you're a weakling (to be fair this has changed quite a bit since Wrath).

Entertaining trashy sci-fi writing with a good mix of humor/twistedness without falling back to pop-culture references.

The companions because they have some interesting dialog trees and they provide a means for self healing for solo content without having to give every class in the game some kind of self heal.

The crafting system.

Huttball! Also nice to see the "Battle for Gilneas" clone and a "Strand of the Ancients" that doesn't make me hate life.

Black Talon! It actually felt like some kind of epic storyline with a couple of different approaches and a pretty satisfying ending. I also like the idea of "2 man" instances. It's great when you have a leveling buddy! Unfortunately this leads to a little bit of disappointment later (see below.)

Things I didn't like:

PVP gearing. Even if I get a full set in my first week the system itself is frustrating enough to make a lot of players just avoid it.

Post 50 questing. It seems uninspired once you hit level cap. It feels like an MMO that starts at level 1 then actually ends with some kind of awkward post 50 epilogue.

Ability delay.

Hearing the word "Frog Dog." I would pay money for an option to murder or otherwise silence the announcers.

Faction population imbalances (I'm as much to blame as anyone... I rolled empire.) Unfortunately this causes Huttball to pop up most of the time when queuing which can make it get very old very very fast.

Ilum. There is nothing good about Ilum unless you count an easy set of champion bags every day/week. Champion bags who's only skill requirement is managing to be in proximity of someone win trading an objective.

Balmorra! Well really just doing any alts on the same faction you did your main on. Since you're basically going through 100% of the story content (as there are no alternative worlds at all) it can make creating alts a bit tedious for some players. The only real difference between say a Bounty Hunter and a Sith Inquisitor is going to be the class quests and the rate at which you rip through mobs.

A lot of other flashpoints basically feel like warcraft 5 mans. The only difference is getting the entry quest. There are a couple gems but largely most of my guild never really feels like going back and doing a good portion of them. Also everything post black talon (including a large portion of heroic quests) pretty much require a full party at appropriate level.

Some of the endgame gear artwork: My sith assassin can either run around in a dress and a mardi gras mask or a dress with some kind of ridiculous hat. Some of the leveling sets look awesome, like a lot of care and detail went into them.

The game is clearly easier for some classes than others. I can chain pull with my mercenary almost non-stop without any downtime or really much thought involved. Other alts and my main I sometimes actually have to work a little.

Crew skills seem like they need a looking at. Biochem appears to be the most practical one to take. Right now my artifice is basically just cranking out mods and gems for people still leveling.

Almost non-existent customer service. I thought not hearing from a GM in warcraft for 2 days on a report was bad. Here you almost never talk to a human being under any circumstances and I just checked; out of 24 tickets opened, 20 of them had this response:

I am Protocol Droid M0-T0 and I have received your transmission.

Thank you for contacting us with this bug report. Your report has been forwarded to the relevant department, who will investigate further. We regret we will be unable to provide you with further updates on this issue, but recommend checking future patch notes for any up to date information.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and to thank you again for the valuable feedback you have provided. Please do not hesitate to report any other issues you may encounter whilst playing the game.

Galactic Support is our specialty

Some were just outright unrelated (I reported some bug at one point and got thanks for reporting a name violation.)

The 'TL;DR' of it all is basically:

The game has some positives and negatives. Over the course of time it should hopefully get better.

We should really try to stop reasoning with these guys. It's pretty obvious that nothing will keep them from following their little madeup "crusade" and it's only a matter of a few days until we see if they are either liars or they are gone.

It will be a sad day when that happens. A sad day when all of the critics of TOR are gone and only its bootlickers remain. Sycophants have never made anything better. You need us whether you know it or not. We are the instruments of your (and TOR's) salvation.

No, not only "bootlickers" remain. There is a way to voice your disagreement besides flooding every thread with hateful, misguided rhetoric.

You seem like a wellspoken, probably above average intelligence individual. Go to any post on these forums with more than 2 pages and tell me again that those people are helping the game with their drivel.

"this game failz....... lololol"

"f2p in 2 months"

"300 million for vo which NOONE wants and is crap anyway"

Those are helpful and TORs saviour?
