LCourage Posted January 8, 2012 Share Posted January 8, 2012 When I started playing a trooper, it was a good fit. By that I mean it had good dps and survivability. I started putting all my skill points into shield specialists. My goal is to tank primarily end game. Probelm is I just hit 30 and lately I'm feeling a bit underpowered in both PVE and PVP atm. Tanking FP is okay but dps while questing and pvp are very difficult. Granted I'm 30 and alot of PvPers are 50. So I respec'd like http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/trooper/vanguard/#::f8e2f9e3fef8ef3e2f5ef13:My rotation includes hammer shot, shockstrike, ion pulse, high impact shot, Pulse round, mortar shot, I haven't had a great deal of time to play with this spec as of yet. However, I do feel like my dps has gone up a bit but I'm still taking a significant amount of damage. So I'm still not quite feeling like a tank or mediocre dps. I'm using Elara as a companion. I was hoping for some feedback from fellow troopers. Is there anything I can tweak or do vanguards just enter a lull in the 30's? I want to be able to dps decently while questing and tank FPs until 50. Does shield spec shine at all in PvP or PvE in the 30's or even 40s? Honestly I agree with this, for some reason the 30s feel underpowered for every class, but I didn't really notice it on my Vanguard because I went through it as a shadow and a Guardian first. Besides Shield Cycler seems to be more useful than SS. Right now I'm doing decent dps and keeping people alive wich is what are we supoused to do. Hope this can help. P.S. ururururu Posted January 9, 2012 Share Posted January 9, 2012 smoke grenade is crap. shield is the best for leveling, by far. so stick with that. but get rid of smoke grenade. vanguard is tremendously strong vs pve/quest mobs. if you are feeling weak try this 1.) upgrade your gun barrel at all times. buy every purple upgrade possible throughout. remember to pvp enough (via daily quests) to get a gun upgrade at available levels.. 24, 34, 38, 42, etc.1b.) do the same for your companion. gun for them is extremely important.2.) pvp armor at 20, 40 is quite good. upgrade via mods whenever possible..2b.) give your companion your throwaways.3.)
