What Customer Service? India?!

So tonight I had to call Bioware customer service. Bioware is located in Austin, TX USA.

Get this...The recording and phone menu system has a British accent. Odd, but ok. Then the "customer service" rep was a damn Indian from India that I could barely understand. I eventually hung up on him, and solved the issue myself without any help.

I got an idea... How about customer service people IN AN ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY.

Good job with offshore customer service Bioware... Its annoying as %&$#. :jawa_mad:

I gotta admit, as hard as the lady on the phone was to understand, she actually used the NATO alphabet, so I was able to tell her my email address (it's kind of hard for even native English speakers to get).

It sucks, but it's kind of a fact of life in these times :(

you do realize that those folks you are talking to on average have higher levels of education than the average person on these boards right? let me guess? red state?

I have an MBA, and I despise Indian customer service. And I'm from South Carolina if that matters to you.

There is good indian support and verygood english speakers from and in India, problem is with this game THERE IS NO SUPPORT. Hire GM's do something before I am forced to quit this game and my subscription due to something as simple as COSTUMER SUPPORT!!!

Congrats on MBA. The thing is I can hire an MBA in Bangalore for $24k a year, which would cost me at least $70k-$80k here and basically get the same work.

Hey Everyone!

I'm sure that BioWare appreciates your feedback, as well as taking the time to express your thoughts and concerns, but I really hope that they will be closing this thread SOON as there is little room for constructive discussion. Although I do hope that they encourage you to make threads about specific game-related topics if you like and wish you the best.

Thank you!

This is correct, the UK almost exclusively uses India tech support, to the point that if they don't, they're so proud they'll tell people that in their commercials.

More US companies are using the Philippines these days. It's becoming the next teleservices hotspot.

Another one, however, is Cork, Ireland. With servers there, I'm a little surprised that EA (as I'm sure made the decision) didn't choose to put the call center there.

Regardless, welcome to the global community. There's no reason to deprive people in other countries jobs when the game is enjoyed by the entire world.

Whatever, stop derailing this thread, it is about terrible consumer support and inerraction etc. I am sure no one really cares about guy being from India,we care that support does not speakenglish and in my case I have yet to speak with support except for automated bot responses.

I get better support from my local email spamming viagra salescompany...

It's not about terrible consumer support - it's about a guy who is afraid to talk to foreigners.

Sorry if you think I am derailing. I have the same issues with US support as I do with Manila support, with Mumbai support, with wherever support. It isn't the place its the individual on the phone and the training they receive.

I haven't had an issue with support for TOR yet. Had to reach out to them on the credit card issue and was ok with service.

I just get irked when folks rail on offshore support as it is usually a backdoor race/nationality thing vs a support concern.

Sorry, but I don't buy that at all. If you hire an MBA from Bangalore, you are contributing to the employment problem here in the US. And I promise you the work will be sub-par. And good luck retaining him once he is here, and has better opportunities than your $24k. In the end all you have done is dilute the job market further.
