To answer this question, you have to ask yourself: what is morality? http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/moral?q=moral According to the link above, moral is based on a "code of behaviour that is considered right or acceptable in a particular society. Essentially, the reason mankind was forced to develop the concept of morality was to establish a code of behaviour that permits community to exist. It allows us to subvert our individual wants and desires enough that we do what's best for the community (in a perfect world where everyone abides by the 'moral' code). You were onto this when you discussed the importance that our own society places on individuality - and the Star Wars movies were very aware of the above, in that they discussed how important one's own point of view was to accepting the 'truths' to which the Jedi adhere. So, from the point of view of the Killiks, kidnapping and assimilating the invaders to help perpetuate the colony is absolutely moral. It would be immoral to permit them to work against the hive. From the point of view of the joiner, aside from any chemical inducement, it's merely an acceptance of a different worldview, like joining a cult or accepting a change to your system of government (think Germany in the 1930s or Russia in 1917). You're accepting that what is 'moral' in your new situation is different from what was 'moral' in your previous culture/worldview. When you think about the cult example from above, you'd be shocked at how much control/individuality/human rights people can be convinced to surrender, and the complete realignment of 'morality' that often exists in a cultic milieu (often by way of mental/physical/emotial abuse and a complete lack of privacy), entering a truly hive mind would take that another step further.
  2. I'm a tad confused as to where your credits are going. I can see spending credits to get the mats to make blues, but from the way you're talking you're sending your companions on missions to gather all of your mats. For making greens for skill ups, you should be farming your mats by harvesting nodes while you're on the various planets - the only mats that you should have to do companion missions for are for the blues that you craft after you've done your skill-ups. As a certified altaholic myself that prefers moddable armour, I usually upgrade blue armorings/augs/enhancements every four levels (not every 2). Because you're a cybertech, you can craft the most expensive item, the armourings, and you can buy the augs/enhancements with comms. The only complication in this cycle are hilts/barrels which cost 7 comms apiece, so that might throw your budget for a loop. That said, as a cybertech, you can craft your augs too if you do a little more farming, which would free more comms for weapon upgrades.
  3. Start playing. If you run into something that subs can do that you can't, and it bothers you enough that you can't do it that you're willing to spend money on it, unlock it.
  4. If you're done Coruscant, you should already have the chest armour from the second pic you linked - it comes at the end of the 'Black Bisector' questline, as I recall. The armour in the first pic that you linked is jedi knight armour, and is high 30s. There's a decent looking blue helmet (I call it the 'Biker Scout' look) available for credits from the heavy armour vendor on Taris, and a similar looking helmet drops on Hammer Station. As for pants, gloves, boots, etc., these will come in your 20s. Do flashpoints and heroics, and the armour comes pretty fast.
  5. Of course, this constitutes fraud. It may not come back to bite you, but if it does, be aware that you're making a decision to accept whatever consequences may come out of an action like this. As a Canadian, there are a lot of things I can't do that Americans can, or that cost a lot more than they would if I lived south of the border. That said, there are a lot of benefits to being Canadian that Americans can only dream of. Life ain't fair. If we all accepted that, we'd be a lot better off.
  6. So primarily your role in PvP as a Jugg is debuffing - peeling - interrupting, roughly in that order? (Sorry, I know it sounds noobish, but I've yet to PvP in SWTOR).
  7. Value of items is a fluid thing. Do what I do, search them on the GTN and price them similarly to what you see the other items priced at - if you want to sell them quickly, price a little lower than the rest, if you can wait around to sell, price them a little higher. Be aware, though, that extremely rare (and therefore extremely expensive) or undesirable items can take time to sell regardless of whether you're higher or lower than the rest.
  8. Without question one of my biggest pet peeves in this game. Running around on a low level planet, group up with another random noob for a heroic, toss a heal, and boom, you're flagged for PvP. This game makes losing your flag such a pain in the butt, too - it seems like the only way to get your flag to drop dependably is to toggle it off and go do something else for 5 minutes while you stand around in town.
  9. I think you're confused about the meaning of Vanguard. It has nothing to do with guarding, but everything to do with leading. If you're going to attack something, you send in your heavily armoured tanks as your vanguard, followed by support types. http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/vanguard?q=vanguard Vanguard noun . . . the foremost part of an advancing army or naval force. Now as to why the healer type is called a Commando, I can't help much with that . . .
  10. This. I'm drawing on EverQuest tanking experience more in this game than in any game since. In EQ, aggro management was the responsibility of the group as much as the tank. In early EQ (Kunark, etc) too much CC made larger encounters trivial, and as such, I think CC in this game has been handled better, but CC appears to be indispensable in this game, no question. I honestly think that it's more than just tanks that are going to need to relearn the tank's role for this game. I spent time in a FP the other day on my Commando healer (alt), and spent half of it telling my guildie to lay off the tank, whom he was berating for not keeping aggro on everything. Frankly, as I see it at the moment, the tank's role is to keep the focus of the strongest mob, then to try to run interference for the healer, should he be swarmed. The rest of the pull is the responsibility of the rest of the group to focus down or CC, because a tank holding aggro on 4+ mobs is simply not going to happen. The game is new. The majority of the playerbase seems to have learned everything they know from WoW. Give it time; people will come around.

    Bleh. As soon as I got my helmet on Coruscant, I hid it. I think it's hideous. Think rebels on Endor.
  12. Did you train both your trooper and vanguard skills? They're on different tabs at the trainer. I know that tripped me up on in my beta experience. I felt like I was doing something wrong; turns out it was something I didn't do.
