  1. I said the same thing in beta. My (near) exact words were "Play it safe" seems to have been the mantra when making this game. It is nicely vindicating to hear the same thing from someone else. While they have avoided risky features which may have flopped, the game as is can't really excell either. However, I have since come to the opinion that the 'play it safe' is a good potential springboard as long as they are not afraid to expand beyond this model in the future. Maybe they should just take it a step at a time and also be willing to take a step back if needed. As for the talk of clones, so what. Judge it by it's own merits (or lack of them), rather than on the traits of another product. That is right. If they had of put caps on your crafting level they could have avoided the recent slicing and the illum resource node issues. My suggestion would have been a skill cap of 10 x your class level letting you max out your crew skill when you hit 40.
  2. Sorry for the belated reply. Absoloutly Rush, there are criticisms that are as you say, are nonsense. I did touch on that. I agree completely the thing is, I am not really addressing those complaints of complaints because I do agree they are valid as they do not need to be address precisely for that reason. I don't say what I am talking about is always the case or even the majority, only that it is the injustice so which is why I am pointing it out. The subtext you detected was there though it was a little unintentional but in hindsight I should have made it clearer. Projectalpha, again there are examples of what you are talking about and I agree they can be valid but I also see arguments dismissed outright straight away. In fact I have seen the exact example you mention, more than one person making a big song and dance, demanding how this should change and what not and threatening to go back to WoW. In fact the last one that motivated my thread here was a person complaining about their class. Now, I freely admit some of what he said was just wrong, and the situation is not as bad as he thinks it is, however even the valid points were just dismissed outright and the ubiquitous qq was thrown out there in about 5 seconds, literally the first reply. The, class balance for numerous reasons is such a touchy issue. Maybe it just puts a person has a defencive when a negative opinion of something is expressed about something which the other party is invested in. Maybe qq has just become fashionable. DarthXalan, I am of the opinion those come much more from religion as you pointed out and society more than the government. That however is not really in the scope of this thread suffice to say, I do see the logic and to an extent agree. Nevur, I think you just hit on half of the issues with people on the internet. The other half being anonymity removing accountability. I want to emphasize absoloutly you have all pointed out valid examples but it is precisely because they are valid that those are not the examples I am talking about.
  3. A lot of people like to dismiss complaints merely because it may be unpleasant to see someone 'attacking' something they like or do not agree with. Tbh, this is very dangerous grounds when you in effect start censoring people's opinions. The fact is complaining is very often essential for something to move forward. Nearly every major advance in society, both culture and technology wise has come about because someone has thought “This isn't good enough, this could be better, this will be better.” If we were unwilling to be content with things the way they were, if we were not ready to identify issues then we would still be sitting around the fire dragging off our women by the hair. Additionally, a negative view, and negativity are two different things. All too often I see them used interchangeably and this is an injustice. While technically accurate, someone expressing a negative opinion is not necessarily 'being negative' as some would put it. To use an extreme analogy, if I was to object to spouse abuse should my opinion be dismissed because I have a negative opinion of (usually) men, beating up women? On the other hand there are indeed people who are any combination of trolling/wrong/disrespectful and a blanket acceptance of complaints is no better than a blanket dismissal. Alls I am asking is that people take a complaint objectively and judge each one for it's own merits, or lack of them.
  4. I am not complaining myself, I am happy enough with everything but I do advocate the right to complain. Lol nice.
  5. Maybe. Though if they were sure their servers could take it, what would be the motivation in annoying a lot of customers? I mean, besides because they are evil. Please note that is a general comment or at least a bad joke, and not aimed at you.
  6. Yeh if he plays, which is a VERY big IF, he won't be telling you and me and for good reason.
  7. The truth is there are a lot of people out there who think they know better the capacity of the hardware then the people who actually wrote the softweare and are there running said hardware.
